Hi Maria,
Steady on with buying a certificate covered by Staffordshire. Do you
mean CLEETON, which is a township of Bitterley, Shropshire, and has a
church St. Mary?
If so go into the Genuki Shropshire page, which shows registers for
there are held at either Ludlow, Shropshire, alternatively Leominster
in Herefordshire.
Whilst these would be for applying for a certificate from a regional
register office, rather than General Register Office, Staffordshire
seems like an unlikely shot.
Cheers, Jo.
Further to my last re old policeman, could anyone with census index and CDs
for Clun please look to see if there is an elderly Richard Gough still
living there? Wife Margaret (Jones).
There is more chance of finding him on the 1841 I know, but appreciate this
may be less accessible.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thankyou.

Hi all
My mother-board did a doozy on me, and probably the hard disk as well. Have
lots of things backed up on zip disks, but the new computer won't accept my
zip drive and relies upon re-writable CDs, which will be good when I am
able to transfer all the zip disks to CDs - probably weeks away. Expensive
business this!
Meanwhile to those who had emailed me recently, please send again, and
would all I have contact with please send their emails for inclusion in my
new address book, a copy of which will

It does often indicate that the child died very young but not always.
Yes the parents names should appear in the usual way.

Ref Margaret's question regarding burials.
Some years ago I was in York City to find my ggg grandfather William Abley (bn circa 1819 in Ludlow). He and his family had moved there to seek work in about 1850. He was a baker by trade. They remained in the area for several generations.
I decided to find where the family were buried and after checking with the City Archivist found they were all buried at York Cemetery. York Cemetery is now no longer used and has become a Trust, managed by Friends of York Cemet

is in Liverpool, and I doubt that this is my

Hi Marion
Had a look at Clun on the 1851 discs. Unfortunately, no elderley Richard or
Margaret. There are about 9 families of Gough living in Clun - mainly a
village that looks like Whitcott - Keysett!
If you want any further details of the families, let me know

Hi Listers.
The other day at Shrewsbury Archives I was looking through the parish registers of Culmington Church , Shropshire.looking for entries of ancestors... when I came across some baptism records which interested me.. An example of which was.....
Elizabeth daughter of Charles Smout by Mary his wife

The baptism records followed the same format for a period of about ten years up to 1812 when the printed registers ( Rose's Act ) w

Hello Friends
Does anyone have the history of Goughs Yard, Broseley?
My great uncle, Rowland Smitheman, married Caroline Gough in 1856. Her father was Thomas Gough, a maltster.
The 1901 census shows Rowland living in King Street and his nephew, Edwin Smitheman, living in Goughs Yard, which appears to be adjacent to King Street.
Rowland was a clay pipe manufacturer.
Your help would be appreciated.

Hello,
I am hoping that someone may have a photo(s) or know where I can find some,
of Wellington High Street, around the 1850's. Which may show the butchers
shop, owned by the Hayward family.
Thank you for any assistance
