Hi all, I am a dozy old bat (50 this year & with a 4 year old it's no wonder I'm barking)
Of course I'm sure you all realised I meant Bournville when I said Cadbury!
Happy New Year & never give up!

Indeed there was the Main Plant of Cadbury's located near Selly Oak, in fact
at Bournville, just down the road.
Many of the residents of Selly Oak listed in 1901 Census worked for
Cadbury's.
a " Google" for Cadbury's , gives more detail about the operation and its
History.

NB: The Road in Selly Oak you give is actually HEELEY Road , my Great Grand
Aunt was living in No 27 in 1901 !!!

I've got them mis-transcribed as HARRISS, HANISS, HARRES, and even HAMP

Unfortunately, none of mine are from Harborne.

Thanks Peter,
The IGI is certainly a most useful tool to guide one to where one
should be looking for information, but it is not a complete record of
every parish that it covers. It is the entries not shown on the IGI I
now seek.
Fifteen years of research have taught me to consult indexes done at a
local level, if available, and the burial information lacking from the
IGI is especially crucial to get the fuller picture.

Dear All.
Well it seems like I upset a few people so I am very sorry, I should have thought, I do understand that it of course takes time, I have been looking into my family history for some seven years, and I am a member of three family history societies, and I do know how long it takes to look at a roll of film, if no index has been made, so I will come to Birmingham and go into the local records office.
Sorry got carried away, can't say any more

Hello again Gerry,
The previously mentioned book contains a number
of relevant pictures, mostly taken in the early part of the 20th century.
Another photo depicts Small Heath and Sparkbrook railway station with a
caption telling us "It was opened in 1863 by the Great Western Railway to
serve the new BSA works and the growing population in both districts."

Thank you all very much for your advice re Robert Macdonald born in Birmingham. After doing family history for over ten years now I have learned not to go wasting #7 of my valuable pension willy nilly, on various certificates, so I try and gain as much info as possible before splashing out.
Thank you for your advice and concern Pauline, If you do manage to find a photo of St Judes church I would appriciate a copy very much (Was it RC or Cof E?)
Thank you all again
Peter
presumably they married before 1837 in which case the marriage cert will show her address. Go to FreeBMD to see if it's listed or let me know if you have a date & I'll look it up. Certs are only #7 from GRO

I am researching a HARRIS family in Harborne, Birmingham. I would be
delighted to know if anyone knows of any connections. Also, suggestions to obtaining
the elusive marriage certificate from .circa 1875
Charles Harris b 1847 Harborne (believed married Mary Julia Pritchett b 1847
but despite extensive searches I have been unable find the marriage
details).
Three children Charles b 1875, Mary Eliz b 1879 and..........
Francis Henry Harris born 1876 Harborne married 1899 to Jane Maria Fisher.
Thanks to Mike and Roz. I have not found it on any web site so far, but
will check the one I have been sent by Mike. It does appear to be a clear
H.
I shall have to look further into this.
Many thanks

Death certificate for my ggm Elizabeth JENKINS WALTERS SIMMONDS gives her address as: 63 Milcote Road, Selly Oak. She died 28 Feb 1943. Electoral rolls for 1939/40 and 1945 list Charles Edward and Elizabeth CALLAGHAN at that address. Ggm Elizabeth had a daughter Elizabeth b. abt 1896 but I have not found a marriage to CALLAGHAN. Hope someone is researching the CALLAGHAN name.
Best wishes to all for good luck in your research in 2007. Ggm Elizabeth was my brick wall for many years so don't give up! I f

Camp Hill used to be the site of a large brewery (Ansell's). My family
lived there in the early 1900s. If I find out why it was called that, I'll
