The church would be St Andrew's Holborn, which is very
famous (some of my ancestors were married there) and
very fine.

Hi All,
since the Cumberland list is still 'down', there is no point in transcribing
the newspapers over there. So, I will continue with the following...
The following is a partial list of businesses and proprietors that
advertised in the guide book "Ambleside, The Centre of Lakeland" "Official
Guide". It looks like this guide book was printed about 1922 as it states
Ambleside's 1921 population as 2,887. This was issued by the "Ambleside
Advertising and Development Association".

Hi, I'm new to the list and was wondering if anyone possibly had access to the 1841/51 census. I would like to know if WILLIAM SCALES, Clockmaker & Watchmaker, was at Atkinson's Yard, Highgate, as he was there in 1829.
I would also like to know, if possible from one of the censuses, whereabouts Akinson's yard was in relation to a number on Highgate, as I have been unable to find a map with it on.
Many thanks. Julie.

Derek, you wouldn't have the 1851 for Brough-Under-Soweby, Westmorland,
would you?
If so, would you mind seeing if there are any Andersons there? Joseph's
father's name was "John" - according to the marriage cert.
Thanks,
Marg

Hello Kate,
I think my John Dobson might be a little to early (b.1800)for a marriage in
1893:-)
But I will keep that marriage on my files just in case.
Much appreciated.
Regards Janis.
John, could you please email a copy to me also?
Many thanks.

Hi Michael,
My ears perked up when you said Warcop. We have some Reveleys that have
kept Warcop/Warkup/Warcup as a middle name, or a first name.
Jonathan Reveley married Elizabeth Warcup in 1802. Would you happen to know
if there was a Warcop family of Warcop?
Thanks,
Sarah Reveley in Texas
As always, I am hunting for any information on Daniel GREGG. Recently I
found a marriage in the 'Pallot's Marriage Index for England 1780-1837' for
a Daniel GREGG and a Mary DOYLE.
Would anyone know which church would apply to this 1832 Marriage, when the
Parish is shown as
'HOLBORN ST ANDREW' ?
Thank you from Barb, Ontario, Canada.
Hi,
I do not live in England so I ask this question. In some of my research my ancestors are listed as born in Levens, other research says Heversham. Are they two separate towns? Does Heversham still exist?

Hi Janis,
I don't think I answered your EMail. Sorry. Thanks for the Dobson
info. I am mainly interested in knowing about the generation of Dobsons
from 1901 forward. From Thomas & Ann Wilkinson. They had a lot of children
that must have families there today. The Rigg connection I know nothing of
except what I posted earlier they lived in Langdale. Thanks Again

This letter was in amongst the letters I am transcribing from Kendal, but the date should be 1776, and Crosby Ravenside is Crosby Ravensworth. Samuel Reveley isn't mentioned, but I think this is a letter of reference for him. He became the schoolmaster, and then the Vicar. If I could establish N. Wennington's identity and location, it would be helpful. Are there any connections to Gillbanks or Wenningtons in the audience?
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Gordon,
The village is located within the Parish of Crosby
Ravensworth bordered on the north by Morland, the west by Shap, east by Appleby and
south by Orton...The St. Lawrence church is a Gothic Cathedral type building and
visited frequently ... May I suggest that you check out the homesite and other
websites such as the one I will send you directly.
Best regards.
Doug Cowden
Believe Haybanks is in St. Lawrence parish at Appleby and not the same named
parish at Crosby Ravensworth where I was born and raised in the village of
Maulds Meaburn.
Cheers!
