1. SNUSHER publican in Wisbech St Mary 1838 [1]
At last fellow listers I have something concrete to put into the forum. I have just received the birth certificate for Edward Snusher born 14 March 1838. Father was shown as Daniel Snusher & mother as Mary Ann Snusher formerly ?[Flix]. Daniel Snusher's occupation is given in Column 6 as publican....wonderful to find someone in this honourable profession, and not just your regular agricultural labourer! Any clues, any suggestions? Directories? 1841 census? There cannot have been too many public houses & inns
2. Hannah [WALTON] -from Bedfordshire or Cambridgeshire? [1]
To date, I have always thought my Gt Gt Gt Grandmother, Hannah came from Marston Moretaine in Bedfordshire as her place of birth on all the census records from 1851 to 1881 state place of birth as "Marson", Bedfordshire. There is a christening for a Hannah WALTON, dau. of William & Mary, on the IGI for 13 October 1811 at Marston Moretaine which is in the right time frame and ties in with the name of her 1st born, William Walton CAWTHORN.. Hannah would have married my Gt Gt Gt Grandfather, Joseph CAWTHORN

William (1865) James (1867) Ephriam (1872) T. (male) (1874) Betsy (1877) At least one child, namely, Rose A. (b1861) had, by the time of the1881 census, left home to marry. All the children were born in Middlesbrough. Any ideas about Thomas's origins would be very
4. GIBSONS of Wisbech [1]
Hi all, Many thanks to Nathan Jensen who found me some really useful baptism info on Thomas GIBSON. It gives a date of 1835, this is very close to the date declared on the census 46 years later. It shows his parents as Ephraim and Elizabeth of old Market and is taken from the Wisbech St Peter registers. My Thomas moved to Middlesbrough, married and spent the rest of his life up there but importantly named one of his sons Ephraim. A search of the 1901 online census shows only two people with the christi
