Thank you to everyone who told me I'm in the right geographic location.
Here are the details of the families I'm looking for:
I'm looking for John LANE and Sarah Pri(s)cilla MILLS who had 3 daughters.
(Sarah alternately went by either or both of her names; many of the US
records show either or both. Her headstone says Sarah P.)
John was born 18 Jul 1838 in Worcestershire, England according to the death
certificate of his daughter (which was filled out by the daughter's
husband).

Hello,
I'm writing from Massachusetts in the USA, so I'm unfamiliar with British
geography. From the best that I can tell, I'm in the right place but could
someone be kind and confirm that for me?
Specifically, I've looked up IGI records through ancestry.com and the
christening and marriage records indicate the location to be "Claines,
Worcester, Worcester" and "St. Martins, Worcester, Worcester".
Am I in the right place? If not, could you tell me what county I need to
subscribe to?

Hi Brian
Mike Harbach sent a message to the list re: Christ Church way back in March
2000.
"...although the registers started in 1714 it was a chapelry to Halesowen
parish until 1841 when it became a parish in its own right."
I would suggest that Mike would be a good one to give you the answer to your
question.

Francis CUBBERLEY, b c 1820 in Powick, married Mary Gallet of Hanleycastle,
in 1869 in Little Malvern RC; this was a second marriage for Francis. From
his first marriage, a son, Frederick CUBBERLEY, was born in c 1865 in
Hanleycastle.
The first wife is unknown and nothing apart from the 1881 census is known
about Frederick.
Any connections, especially with Frank/Francis CUBBERLEYs anywhere??

Hi List,
I would be very grateful to know whether any member has come across the Bryon family.
My Great Great Grandfather Thomas Bryon (DOB 16/4/1843) moved from Churchill in Oxfordshire, to join the Worcestershire Constabulary. He commenced his employment with the police force on the 30/4/72. (previously he had served in the Royal Marines)
As PC 59 he was initially posted to Martley, then Cleobury Mortimer and finished his service at Rock.(Does the police station still exist?)
He must have lived at Rock
Hi lurkers and all
Well, I must confess that I'm probably the only lurker on this list without
Worcestershire interests !
In fact, I lurk to help other researchers. As an officer of the Oxfordshire
FHS, I'm well aware that a researcher might have an ancestor from south-east
Worcestershire who has gone missing because he's strayed into Oxfordshire.
No respect for county boundaries, that's the trouble with these old timers !
And that's when I step in, with free look-ups from the Oxfordshire FHS
baptisms, m
My apologies for cross posting but Smethwick seems to move about a bit.
Those (above) are the parents of William HILL (my grandfather). They
married in 1904 in Smethwick. Thomas Hill was born abt 1882 and Polly
Reeves (as on birth certificate) born 05/12/1884.
Polly's parents were: William REEVES & Clara Jane CHAPPEL.
Thomas HILL's father was Charles HILL (as per marriage certificate) Tube
Drawer. I don't see any obvious canditates on the 1881 census for my
Charles Hill as of yet and unfortuantely Thomas

I think you will find that this is "Stock and Bradley". It is part of the
registration district of Droitwich and was south east of Hanbury. I believe
it is the area between Bradley Green and Stock Green which you should be
able to find on maps.

I have links to both ROUND and CHANCE families in Lye. My great great grandparents Samuel and Maria Pearson had 4 daughters, Mariah, Mary (Polly) Elizabeth and Hannah.
Mariah married Philip Round , Polly married James White, Elizabeth married Francis Welch (my great grandparents) and Hannah married John Chance.
Any links ?

If SK is looking at Worcester parish registers and happens to come across Edward & Sophia Drury, I would be most grateful for details. This couple last seen in 1881 census in St. Peter's parish with children Jane (B. 1873), John (b.1874), William (b. 1876) and Maud (b. 1879).
Perhaps a regular visitor to Worcester RO could look for me in exchange for something at FRC?
Thanks,
Sarah

Hello to you all,
Can any one tell me where Lord COBHAM's Estate was and what it was called.
I believe my ancestors POTTER worked there.
My brick wall is:-
George and Emma POTTER (nee WILLETT) circa 1840. Their son George (dob 1860) was my Gt Grandfather. I am also looking for his siblings.
Young George married Margaret REARDON (dob 1860) daughter of Henry (Harry abt 1830 Kings County, Ireland) and Johanna (nee Oakley abt 1836 Sussex).
Also looking for Margaret's siblings.
Look forward to hearing from
Hello Brian,
O.K. Point taken. I have since looked at my book "A guide to the Latter Day Saints Library"
and note that there was/is a Leintwardine and a Lugwardine in the Heredfordshire area. I
would suspect that the first of those is a big possibility. Anyway, that may give you food
for thought.
There is a great deal of information about Leintwardine on the net.
Best wishes,

Hello Rita Smith and Noreen Coombes,
Thanks for your interest and finding my Gr. Grandfather on the 1881 census.
You are correct that you have the right person. The young son was my Grandfather
Arthur Edgar Harris.
However, I was asking for check to be done on the 1871 census because apparently
the spelling of his birthplace ( Lanlerdine) must be wrong since there is no such place.
I am hoping that on the 1871 census the scribe of the day may have been better at
spelling than his 1881 predecessor!
Thanks

Simply, that having all the basic information on how to research
family history in England and Wales concentrated in a simple,
easy-to-access format -- i.e., a book--is much handier than trawling
through the web for hours. Also, you cannot be certain of the quality
of the information or advice you come across on the net.
Besides the two general books I mentioned, the SoG bookshop stocks

As Dave suggested.
Well, I have to sort out just which John TOLLEY married Elizabeth
GILES at Kempsey in 1731, try and fill a couple of Civil War holes in
the FARMER line I'm researching, and work out which of a couple of
possible Sarah GRIFFITHS got herself in trouble in 1802. Then there's
the SHEPPARDs, BISHOPs, STONALLs. . .
However, the Worcester ancestor who is driving me completely bananas
is Sarah NANDALL, who married Joseph GRIFFITHS (son of Sarah above)
at Worcester St. Swithin's 7/4/1822.

Hello Keith,
I too have PRICE in my ancestry, and it's just as bad as having SMITH.
I'm sure you would have looked through the whole of Claines in 1891 (11 fiches) and not just for one address or street.
You may be stuck on the 1991 census but there are other avenues to follow, unless you're only interested in finding the family's whereabouts after that date. I take it you have Richard Parry PRICE's birth certificate, which will give his father John's occupation and mother's full name. Some kind o
