Dear Wendy, my 4 X Gt.Grandfather, Joseph EMBREY married Elizabeth GARNER on
15.10.1791 at Doddington. Their first two children were baptised there and
at least another five at March - all between 1973 and 1815 and all as EMERY.
After several years searching for the origins of Joseph and Elizabeth I am
no further forward. May I ask if you have any record of Joseph's baptism,
presumably c.1760 or so, and also of his burial please. I shall be eternally
grateful for any ideas! Yours Joe.
Hello Listers,
I am back on line after a computer crash last week and thought that I would
take this opportunity to wish you all a Very Happy Xmas and a Successful
Ancestor Hunting New Year!
Kind Regards

in the Burial Index, are there Wendy?
First may I say what a superb job you are doing and believe me I know what
it is like!!!!
Dr William's Library was used to perform baptisms during the period
1754-1837 for protestant dissenters, except Methodists, and also some
Anglican baptisms. I don't know exactly where the Library was so I won't
hazard a guess.... but I bet somebody else knows

Can anyone tell me why baptisms took place in Dr. Williams Library?
Searching the baptism index it crops up regularly. Just curious.
Some feed back, to date I have actioned 96 look ups, by the end of today
will have passed 100. Thats since 12/12/00.
Please continue to give as much info as possible, places of interest and
first names if possible.
Please give me feed back, I thrive on it.
Happy New Year to all.

Hi Susan,
The War of 1812 was a fun diversion and it was very interesting to hear
the perspective of people from different countries. The war certainly
had a large impact of families from a genealogical point of view too.
Can I offer any help in researching your Nova Scotia branch? I can do a
lookup in my Canadian Genealogical Index for you. There are some online
websites for Nova Scotia, don't know if you have explored them or not.

Another note on this war that Canada won, we reached Washington DC and
burned a number of gov't buildings--that is why the White House is called
that; it was burned and had to be painted white to cover the black scorch
marks. At the time the war was ended and peace treaty signed, Canada was
winning the war, and "owned" (invaded and held) much US lands. The peace
treaty pretty much set the borders back to what the pre-war borders were.
I've always wondered what US history books taught about this war. :o)
Hi all
Wendy Farrington can also join in in replying to this, but I'll give my
point of view -
If someone says I'm stuck with John Smith in England, everyone groans.
If you say my Zebediah Archimedes Fonzarelli says in the 1881 census
that he was born in Cambridgeshire around 1812 everyone smiles and has a
go!
I think I speak for all the CFHSers when I say we like to wet your
appetite not do the work for you.
So we'll tell you that there were 3 possible Zebediahs born in
Cambridgeshire and where you can
The US Civil War didn't start until 1860.
A famous line from the song "Rule Britannia" is "Britain rule the waves" -
and Britain did its best to do so - with great arrogance. US, at that
time, was trying to established its neutrality, and wanted the right to free
trade. Both Britain and France did their best to stop them. It is fair
comment that US was not happy about the existence of Canada, but the war of
1812 was about neutral rights as much as anything. I wonder if Canada would
have even been invo

I'm looking for the marriage of and the baptism and parents of ANN (probably RISBY?) who married (when and where?) Leopoldus Sylvanus Albertus DIVER by about 1735. He was bapt. (1713) at Soham and so were their children. Soham manor court records of 1728-38 say that Thomas PALMER left to Sarah, wife of Edward Isaacson, and to her daughters of her body Ann, wife of Leopoldus Sylvanus Albertus Diver, and Thomasin Risby (age 18 in 1736), spinster, small bits of land in Bury Crofts, Moorside, and Rosefield (t
