2. Re: South Weald cemetaries [1]
Hi Bernie, Looking round the local cemetery won't really be of any help. You don't say the time span you're referring to, but even nowadays not everyone has a headstone, vase, or whatever with their name on it. Cemeteries tend to be rather large affairs and as people are not buried in alphabetical order there's no telling exactly where any body (so to speak!) is. If you have a name and a date of death/burial, then cemetery staff can refer to their records and say exactly where Mr X is buried. Some can

Hello, Welcome to the list! Yes it is the right one, as even though Forest Gate now comes within the London Borough of Newham, it was in Essex until comparatively recent times. Hi from WA Had similar problems a while back. Problems can occur if you have more than one version of the Viewer software installed or if a certain file on your computer is not current. I had great support from Family History Support at help@productsupport.familysearch.org They sent very detailed instructions, via their IT man in Sydney who made several phone calls to me in W.A. to make sure the problem was fixed. I was most impressed (and grateful!) Jacki Western Australia jackis@tik.com.au Researching:

Hi, Do you know what records there are available for Colchester 1813 time period. Is it possible to trace the family I have, where they lived during this time period, or to gather any other information about them. I seem to have drawn a blank, surely there would be some records kept of people living there.
11. 1841 - 1851 - 1861 - 1871 Census [1]
Hello Treacy ~ Not much is free these days ~ and I can't make any specific recommendations for free sites . . . .. however, I'll make some low-cost suggestions: [1] You may find that your Regional Research Library (usually part of the Public Library service in your NZ town) may have some of these Census records ~ or they may have them for certain areas of the UK. [2] Your nearest LDS genealogy centre may also hold some of these Census records, either on CDs or on Microfiche ~ they'll probably allow you to d
12. NEW LISTER AND HER ESSEX FAMILIES - KING, RAYMENT & MASON, Sible Hedingham & Castle Hedingham [1]
Fellow Researchers, I have been lurking in the shadows of the Essex list for a year as a spectator and have decided it is time to subscribe to the list. My name is Grace Weldon and I live in Cold Lake Alberta, Canada. Started researching this particular line last fall although I have been a genealogy sleuth for just over 3 years. After spending many hours researching the Essex birth, marriages and burials films and all but the 1861 census at the LDS this past winter, I have come up with the following
13. Essex Photographers [1]
----- Original Message ----- From: "colleen morrison" If anyone on the list comes across any early Essex photographers in the course of their research or has a photographer ancestor, I would be very grateful if they would be kind enough to send me details of them. Colleen: I have a studio photo of my great grandfather that I suspect was taken early in the 20th century. The photographer is "Scott 53 Leytonstone Road Stratford E". Do you have this one? -- Mike Rogers

17. BOER WAR [1]
Good afternoon, I have tried a search of the internet and have as yet not found anything yet. Does anybody know if there is a way of find out the names of soldiers or civilians who were away from England in 1901, for the census, because of the Boer War? I have a number of men missing this census and the thought is "Boer War" and I would like to confirm this. Thank you Pat
18. Re: William Fitch - which one ?? [1]
Hi Kevin, Thanks for the list of William Fitches. 'My' William married an Elizabeth Devis in 1805 at All Hallows London Wall. I am investigating the William born in Writtle in 1782 and trying to see if the William who died in 1867 at 85 in Writtle was the same one. Hopefully someone with access to the 1841/51/61/71 census could kindly look for a suitably aged William to see if they are one of the same. 23. RE: Springfield/ Sandford [1]
Hello, Springfield is now effectively part of Chelmsford. There is a " Sandford Road " which runs from Sprinfield Road ( near the Prison ) to what was the old A12. Hope this helps a bit Regards, Gordon Smith in Norfolk.
24. Coopersale - with Fred Brown [1]
Hiya, I hadn't realised that Fred Brown had written a book on Coopersale like his two on Epping, but I've now put it on line at www.hudgill.co.uk again he reminisces about the Coopersale folk and includes many family names including Trudgett, Fleming, Osbourne, Pegrum, Whiffen, Stallan to name but a few, there's also quite a few pictures of the school pupils and headmaster, the people and the houses of Coopersale, Pam
25. On the street where they lived! [1]
Dear Listers I will be visiting Essex next month and want to see if my great grandparents' and great-great grandparents' houses are still there. On the 1881 Census I have the address of Lasletts Cottages in East Street, Prittlewell and No. 23 Trinity Street, Colchester. Could SKS be able to let me know if these places still exist or where I would be able to access this information. I know that the streets are still known by those names but as to where the houses are situated I don't know. Researching W
