Does anyone have information about the Tolleshunt-D'Arcy NELSON's circa
1685-1715? I have heard there is a connection with the NELSON's in
Bramfield, Suffolk and elsewhere, i.e.Garsdale, Yorkshire and Lancashire. I
am interested as well in one James NELSON, Vicar, who took a B.A. degree
from Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1687, was ordained in Norwich, and was
Master of Halstead School, Essex, circa 1692.
Many thanks!

Hello All,
Can any member let me know of a address of where I can apply to obtain the
army records of a man (my father) who served in WW1 and in all probability
enlisted with a Essex Regiment as his parents (my grandparents) were living
in Orsett, Essex County at the time of the 1891 census. My Father was born
in 1894 and would have been 20yrs. of age at the outbreak of the war in
1914 and was most likely living and working in the Orsett area at the
time..Thanks in advance for any help...J. Dusty Miller
I am interested in Wades living Great Coggeshall, and Little Coggeshall, Co. Essex.
One of my early Wades is Daniel Wade b. abt 1727 and marr. to Mary Lawrence. They had 3
children Mary abt 1750, Daniel May 28, 1753 born in Little Coggeshall and marr September
07 1780 to Lucia Walford and the last child Thomas Wade abt 1754. I would share what I
have and would like to learn of earlier relatives.

Would welcome hearing from anyone doing research on RAINSFORD, I know that
name has strong Essex connections.
In following my MACEY tree in Wiltshire, mainly in the Chilmark/Tisbury
area for a couple of centuries, my ggg grandmother Maria Macey, nee
Polden, apparently married a James Rainsford in Salisbury after her first
husband died. This was about 1834.
Trouble is that although she had a child by that name and used the
Rainsford name until she died, I have been unable to find any marriage.

I see lots of people giving out census information from various
years. Do you have the census data to hand and if so can anybody get
copies of the census.
I have limited details from the 1881 and 1891 census for Essex, but I
think the Shonks were spread out a bit by then, so I would like to
find out where they were, and obviously the census seems like a good
starting point.
Any information gratefully accepted.

Does anyone know if Creping Hall at or near Wakes Colne or Colne-Wake still

It was an ancestral home of my ancestors in the 16th century and I would
very much like a picture or sketch of it.

Hello
Has anyone out there come across any references to PATCH in Essex?
I imagine it is not a common name in the area as most seem to have come
from Somerset/ Devon (not so common there either!)

Hello Don,
Wakes Colne is also referred to as Colne-Wakes in some publications.
There were four Colnes; Colne Engaine, Earl's Colne, White Colne and
Wakes Colne. These four are to be found immediately to the east of
Halstead, and Wakes Colne is the most easterly of the four. They fal
