This list of known epidemics makes a helpful reference when researching
individuals who disappear from local records suddenly, with no record of
death. During major epidemics, people were often buried hurriedly and
sometimes in mass graves. Taken from: www.genealogy-quest.com

We Are the Chosen
My feelings are, in each family, one is called to find the ancestors.
To put flesh on their bones and make them live again,
To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.
To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead,
Breathing life into all who have gone before.
We are the story tellers of the tribe.
We have been called, as it were, by our genes.
Those who have gone

Hi,
I'm new to the list so here's a shot at making a connection with any of you.
Is anyone working on the line of Andrew FAIRLEIGH of Kentucky? He lived in
the Elizabethtown area of KY. He had a brother George who settled in
Missouri but I don't know any more about him. Andrew married Elizabeth
ENLOWS and later Lettitia SWAN. I have a very interesting letter that gives
a lot of information about this line and related ones...LaRues, Enlows,
Swans, Brandenburgs, etc. I'd love to hear from anyone working i
Hi to all,
My name is Lois Magee and I am the new FAIRLEY List Administrator.
I have no FAIRLEY ancestors that I am aware of but do have cousins with
the FAIRLEY surname. Maybe I will meet more 'cousins' through this
mailing list. My FAIRLEY 'cousins' are in the state of Mississippi.
I look forward to meeting all the FAIRLEY researchers.
Happy hunting,

Hi Lois and everyone!
It's been a long time since I've seen a posting to this list. Thought I'd

Cumberland PAYNE on 1-1-1893 in Karnes, TX.
Anyone????
Thanks,

Hi List,
A new subscriber here.
My gt grandmother, Mary FAIRLEY, married Donald McGREGOR, 18 December 1866 in St John's Parish church, Newcastle on Tyne.
Mary's parents were Henry FAIRLEY (or Farley) b 1793, Ireland and Mary TURNER b 1818, Ireland.
I have no idea where in Ireland or when they arrived in England but their daughter Mary was born in Newcastle in 1844 according to the 1871 census. Other children were Margaret (1847), Edward (1849) and John = Mary Ann SMITH.
I would be grateful for any sugg
hi Listers,
well, boy am I disappointed. All this tension waiting to see the Scottish 1901 census with the belief it would give more information on the birth place of my James and Jane Fairley.
James wasn't there and so looking at the death indexes he died in 1895 and Jane has again only listed "Ireland".
Where do i go from here?

Dear All:
There is a IGI search program for the UK. This has been
introduced yesterday. I checked it out today and it
works fine.
It allows you to search the IGI by parish and returns
ALL the IGI records for that surname in that Microfilm.
It covers both birth and marriages.
It obviously took a lot of work to develop and cross\
index the IGI records by Parish in a database.

Here is a real early warning of a new Virus fresh from the

The format of this new worm has been in development for

about it.
So don't open any URL's that you don't know.
The AV software programs may be late as well in
getting updates out quick enough. But at least
update your AV software 2 to 3 times a week for the
