There is a new Wilson County Genealogy page that is just starting up.

It is dedicated to providing genealogy assistance and free access to

I am seeking information on Michael FARRELL,b. 1820, son of John and
Mary FARRELL of Ireland. He came tp the Troy, NY area around 1850 and
married Catherine DANAHY, sister of Cornelius DANAHEY there in 1858.
I have received many responses to this idea, and I thought I would pass
some of them along
to the group so everyone knows where we're at.
I would still like to see some rooters from Australia and New Zealand have
some say into
setting up this database, maybe a male opinion might be valuable too;)

A few years ago, when we were a proud group of 30 or so, I had proposed the
idea of putting together some type of searchable database accessable only
by members of this group. I printed out our subscriber list this morning

I don't know about the rest of you, but I had a hard enough time trying to
keep track of who was looking for who when we were a group of 30.

Judy, I believe that I have Farrells in Newark, NJ that were in the shipping
or ship building industry. I have not yet tracked them down. But I know
that when my dad was young his family moved to Newark and grandpa worked for
a relative out there for several years before returning to Illinois.
Unfortunately I have no infor on these Newark relatives.
I may also have some Walsh roots out there.

In the Chronicles of St. Mary's County, Maryland, William Ferril, Sr. is

Donna,
When you are able to get to your info please post to the list. I have
heard my relatives say that some of their Irish came into the US through
Louisiana but I have not found any record of them doing so. Although, I
have a brick wall on my Farrell family and some you your first names are
the same as mine so mine could be a branch of the same family. Thank you
very much.

Hi Jo Ann,
I just had a thought about your Nelson Farrell. Have you checked the
GenForum bulletin board? I find a lot of information from the queries on
this list. If you haven't, you should check it out. I am not sure about the
actual address, but if you go to Family Tree Maker's site, you can find it on
"Bulletin Boards". Their website is www.familytreemaker.com. I hope this
helps.

Thanks for the influx of mail by the way, out of 198 people on this list,
125 responded postively towards setting up a database and there were no
negative responses. I'm sorry, I haven't been able to get back to all the
questions I've been asked in the last couple of days though.
In the meantime, the development officer with Local Ireland for the
Longford area has offered to assist us. He has offered MANY suggestions so
far, including a chat line he has arranged that you can see at

I haven't the expertise to set up a data base, but would certainly enjoy
seeing one put together.
I also would love to see Dorothy's Virgina Farrell info. The only Farrell
that I know of (other than my great grandmother Catherine Farrell Byrne) was
in Virginia.
