I think you are cute. Welcome to the "old wrinkly group" to which many of
us subscribe. I am willing to sponsor your upgrade from 25 to 67 markers,
this time. Colin please make note so I can send the funds.
However, I believe that anyone on an initial search should send off for the
DNA with an initial search for a minimum of a 37 marker test.
12 markers are basic...and essentially useless and generic. If we match all
12 and that person does not pay for an upgrade...what use i
Bob Ferguson has sponsored the participation of James Ferguson as a
personal benchmark. James' ancestor is Joseph R. FERGUSON b.~1818, VA

Richard believes that Joseph R. is the son or grandson of the Reverend
Joseph FERGUSON of KY and son of John FERGUSON Jr and Mary GILL. This

Colin...what do you think about the idea of posting pictures to see who
looks the most alike? I keep seeing people coming on board posting names (i.e.
judy, gerald) that are unusual in dated ancestry, but in descendancy over and
over. I have a feeling that we may all look alike...LOL

Hi Sherri,
1. On your personal Family Tree DNA page you will have to contact the
person you match and ask them (unless they have posted a GEDCOM file
in which case you can click the icon.
2. In Ysearch, click the "User ID" on the search results page.
3. With SMGF click the pedigree icon.
Hope this helps!

Does anyone use Geno Pro? I received a genealogy file that was created with this software and cannot open it--is it compatible with any other programs, like Family Tree Maker?
Thanks!

You did my DNA some years ago, a 27 marker, and would now like to increase to a 67 marker test.
I am not at all familiar with computers, being of the ' Old Wrinkly Group', and wonder if it could be arranged at your end, from details of my last test.
My daughter usually does my computer work, but serious health problems make her help impossible for now.
Could you let me know if this can be done, the account would be sent to me, as below -
Mr. C.R. Ferguson,
3 Garrick Place,
Hamilton 3200,
New Zealand.
I am a descendent of that line, and hoping to get a male cousin to
participate this year!

Hi List,
I've looked and don't see anyone who descends from the two sons, John, Jr.
and Thomas of John Ferguson and wife Sarah who were residents of Stratford, CT
from 1660-1664 then show up in Westchester Co., NY. Their descendants were
in Dutchess Co.
Incidentally, John Sr did not die in 1681 -- there are several records on
him later than that.
I would think this would be a fairly important line to DNA??
Some years ago, five? there were at least two men descendants with whom I
corresponded.
Just
This is one of the E3b Johnsons, not the 67 marker one. This one is in the
area where we are stuck with our Andrew Ferguson. In the Ferguson family
there is a Lafayette and Patton Ferguson. Not exactly common given names
for the area. Susan Miner is interesting in that area, it is possibly
Melungeon. Margaret do you know Norman Ray Johnson (last name in this
line)?
My hunch is to find out about this Isaac Johnson's ancestors, guess that is
where I'm heading now.
Penny Ferguson
The E3b JOHNSON found in the SMGF database have unusual values for the
multicopy marker DYS464, i.e. 14, 15.3, 17, 17. According to Thomas
Krahn, "the DYS464 15.3 allele is frequently found in the E3b
haplogroup (although it is sometimes reported as 16)".
http://tinyurl.com/3ar8a7
I suspect our E3b FERGUSON are all 14, 15.3, 17, 17 as well.
Cheers,
Colin
Penny, did you notice the older woman Martha Johnston on the cencus also from NC? and she was 63 in 1850, I think this must have been them mother of Mary and Rebecca Johnston who married into the Southerlands!!! Also please note the Southerland names...interesting when John L Ferguson and Nancy Lauretta Southerland had kids they named them John, Francis and Ovanda...obviously this was the "stronger" side for some reason.
I sent you guys a Southerland picture earlier.

No, it was spelled Pridemore in this area. I never heard of a 'Prigmore'
before. I think it was probably the other way around.

Colin, I said I was going to ask Vince, but I didn't. I posted to the E3b
