Out of curiosity, I did a search on www.google.com to see if our
library/genealogy dept were on a web site to make obtaining contact information more
convenient...and guess what, they are!

Thank you for posting your followup and positive results! Usually we don't
get feedback on results of assistance offered with research, so it's really
nice to know
Thanks to a couple of listers who spotted the LOWE in a funeral home name, I
was able to speak to the very helpful and friendly funeral director of the
Lowe-Hanks Funeral Home. They were affiliated with the Reid Lowe Funeral
home earlier and did have a file on my target person. There wasn't much to
learn in addition to what was on the death certificate, but I'm satisfied to
have exhausted that particular source.
Appreciate the responses - they were helpful. S Alberts albertsu @

Hello,
My name is Toni Carrier. I am the founding director of the University of
South Florida Africana Heritage Project. Our mission is to rediscover
precious records documenting former slaves and to make those records available on a
free, public access internet site. Our researchers travel far and wide to
transcribe records from archives, libraries and county records, before these are
lost to history.
Our largest focus, however, is within the genealogical community. We
recognize that the ma

Thank you for the leads on a LOWE-ly named Funeral Home. The Lowe-Hanks is the spin-off of the Reid-Lowe, and the director was friendly, helpful, and had some information on my target person. S Alberts albertsu @ pacbell . net

Reid Lowe Funeral Home 2360 NW 36th St., Miami, FL
was funeral home on a 1970 death certificate I received today.
They appear to be out of business now.
Has anyone learned when they went out of business
and what may have happened to their files and records?
If you have knowledge of this funeral home, please reply to me,

For Everyone's Information:
The web and Google is how I found the library phone number and called twice.
First to have someone look in a city directory for my person. Second to
learn if an obit was available. An obit was in the index, so I snail mail
ordered it - should be here soon. Wonderful, speedy, and friendly service.
The state office is responsive as well - can't believe how fast the death
certificate was mailed from Jacksonville. I have sent for several FL death
certs over the last 6 yrs or so
Searching for information on Julia Sheppard Schryrer/Shrier/Scherer/etc. who
lived in Palm Beach somewhere between early 1900 and 1930. Family lore has it
that she and her husband owned a restaurant in the area. She was born in NY in
1869-70. That is all I know. Thanks, Pat

Looking for information on William Humburg. He passed away in Dade County I believe in 1985. He was from Pennsylvania, his mother being Everetta [Bennett] Humburg. Everetta is my great grandfathers sister.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Dorsey HAGAN died July 31, 1965. He is buried in the Palms Memorial Park
cemetery at Narania, FL. He lived at 775 N.W. 13th Avenue, Miami, Florida.
Who was his wife? Where is she buried? Who were there children?
I cant tell you when Reid-Lowe went out of business but heres a number
for Lowe-Hanks Funeral Home in Hialeah which may have been affiliated
with them. Considering the address, the area has been Hispanic for a
while and Reid-Lowe is also in a Hispanic area. 305-885-3521.
