Hello,
I was wondering if one of the Micklers that moved to Hernando Co. was
named Joseph. My gggrandfather Francis W. ROSS was listed in the 1870

Ring any bells?

Interesting thought that the old Peterson home place is now a large

Some of the Micklers moved down from Suwanne county about 1870. The
famous 3 brothers and a cousin. The 3 brothers were raised by their
Uncle and his wife. The wife is in my line of Baisdens. Two of the
brothers settled out by lake lindsay, one brother and the cousin
married daughters of the Baisden girls in Old Springhill. Jacob
Bartley is one of the brothers who settled in old Springhill, Martha
E. Law. It was her children that died from the assination attempt in
June 1881.

I have a favor to ask, If anyone has access to the early Florida
Newspapers that covered Hillsborough and Hernando County, please
contact me. I am looking for copies of coverage of the assination of
Jacob Bartlet/Bartley Mickler's family in Brooksville on March 31
1881.
I am trying to get a complete family history up till 1890, and the
articles would help. The family hasn't talked much about, and what I
have is two generations away from the event and probably slanted by
the death of my uncle Bill langsto
I have access to the index for marriage book 1 1882 - 1932 Would
anyone like to help transcribing the index so it can put on the
Florida gen web archives? The index has only names, a grooms index
and a brides index, not cross referenced. It also has no dates as to
when the marriage license was purchase or the marriage recorded.

Deborah,
I asked around about changes in land use at "Old" Spring Hill. Here's what I
got:
Another portion of land, maybe an acre (I understand it is adjoining the old
cemetery), has been enclosed to provide additional burial spaces , because
the old plot is full of family and neighbors of the Lykes, Wall, and
Peterson families and there was a need for more burial space. It is to
remain a very private cemetery.
It is correct that the old groves in that area have not been replanted, but
that is true of ma
