Per the news in my hometown which is just north of St. Augustine, these stones
turned out to be surplus headstones. A sister of one of the deceased reported
to police that she recognized her brothers stone but upon visiting his grave
found that a stone was still there. According to the news report when mistakes
are made on headstone or if duplicates are made, the stones are usually donated
to school art classes. There is still a mystery as to how the stones arrived at
St. Augustine, but apparently no ones g
