I looked in "A History of Columbian County" and "Discovering Genealogical Roots in Suwannee County" and there are no Avants or Copeland. There is an A. Avant listed in 1847 Tax List for Madison Co. Know this is not much help but at least, you know where not to look. I think you would enjoy reading the book if you can get it. I bought it from Heritage Press and it may still be available. It is a paperback and I think I only paid about $12.95 for it. Another possibility, is to have your local library get it on inter-library loan from the State Library in Tallahassee. I frequently order books from them. Pg. 35, there is Asa Gaskins listed as a Suwannee County landowner before 1858. Asa Gaskins is on the 1845 Voters List in the Mineral Springs Precinct, Columbia Co. 1866 Marriages: Harry Coleman to Minnie Flowers, on Dec. 8. That is all in History of Suwannee Co. In "History of Columbia County" there is a listing from the business directory of the Georgia Southern and Florida Railway for 1901 and it shows R.M. FLOWERS - Dry Goods No Flowers in there. Do you have access to "Discovering Genealogical Roots in Suwannee County, Florida". There are a number of references to Bird and Roberts.
