Wilma,
It's possible that your Thomas was the son of my Thomas, but I
would need more information. My Thomas moved his family to Indiana
in 1821. Do you have any idea where in Kentucky your Thomas was
born. You thought he died in Indiana, do you know where?

Hi,
My FOSTER line came from England to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. They
settled in Andover, MA. My lines run from Andrew FOSTER b. abt. 1579 d.
1692 and his wife Ann (surname is largely unknown though some sources point
to ALCOCK as a surname for her). Ann was accused of witch craft during the
Salem Witch trials and died in prison while awaiting trial. Her daughter
Mary FOSTER LACY and grand-daughter Mary FOSTER LACY, jr. were also accused
but 'confessed' and in turn accused poor Ann of witchcraft a

This site is focused on a particular family first discovered in Kentucky who then moved to Illinois, Missouri,
Iowa and then to Oregon. It covers the years between 1795 and early 1900's.

Hi Thomas;
I have just learned that my great grandfather was born in Missouri,
approx 1837. His name was Marion S. Foster. His parents were
from Virginia. He settled in San Ynez, California. He married a
Ellen Burke, born in Vermont. Might be a connection?

Mary Lou: Could you put a surname in your RE: - section of the headings when
you are refering to a surname query. It's much easier for those of us to then
open it up as the heading you listed " Just wondering" sometimes leads one to
just delete it, as sometimes too "Just wondering" lead's to a porn or some
sexual thingy. Thanks Connie in Nebraska. Searching Ambrose Foster form
Halifax Co, VA and Caswell Co., NC. areas
Please could we have some new subject lines. The ones that are being used now have no reference in the message to what appears in the subject line.
Thank you
Shirley

Renee,
Try Schuyler County Missouri, there is a Isaac and Thomas that do not fit
into my line of Foster's, that I know of. They have a web page with some of
their info on it. The Isaac Foster in Lancaster Missouri, Schuyler Co.
started the Christian Church. There are also Foster's in Scotland County
Missouri, along with Davis County Iowa. Good luck.

Oh, no apology necessary. I'm desperately hoping someone in this list will be able to make a connection to my Fosters, as I am stuck on that line and have been for years. Unfortunately I am unable to help you. My Fosters came from VA to KY to IN. Hopefully someone else in the list will be able to make a connection for you. There seem to be a lot of Fosters that came from PA. Good luck.

Karen Patterson,
I know you weren't adressing your remarks to me, but I am another
lookier on the Foster list since I have two Foster lines. Just this week I
learned that one of my Foster lines that is connected to the Gordon's
started out in New Hampshire. You might look north since the chances are
good that your line did not originate in Pennsylvania but started moving
south and west as land was opened just like mine and a bizillion others did.
I just saw the Foster/Gordon and thought to add m
Shirley,
I grew up in the South...My parents worked at "The Mill"...The mill was a
textile mill where cotton was processed into cloth, AND the mill actually
provided houses for all their employees...We lived in Monroe, GA, but to all
the other townspeople we lived on the mill villiage...I said all of that to
say this; The Mill Villiage may have been a community surrounding the "Mill"
and was never was recognized by the postal service as a Town??? I hope this
helps...Happy hunting,
Walt

Betty,
Glad to hear from you.
I believe my George Gordon came in through New York ca 1770-1775. I cannot
find one trace of him before he shows up in Philadelphia. The only reason I
suspect New York is that his brother, Samuel, who stayed in Scotland, died.
Samuel's lawyer posted a letter in a New York paper looking for George Gordon
in America. If he knew he was in PA, I don't think he'd have used a New York
newspaper.
Hugh Foster, on the other hand, cannot be found anywhere before 1779 in
