I am looking for information on my great great grandmother Permelia Foster who married David C. or listed some places as Cyrus D. Fulton in 1855. They are listed in the household of J.C. Foster and his wife Mary in the 1860 St. Charles County, MO census, although Permelia's name is incorrectly listed as Amelia there. The other Foster children are Mary 15, Ann 14, John 12. Alison: My father was supposedly born in Niagara Ontario Foster - Leonard Ray Foster, parents James Foster and Charlotte Niven. James (I was told) was born in Monroe Co. NY. My father's birthdate was 10/31/1883 or 1884. I cannot find much more other than his Social Security application card which gives his guardians name as Anna Merritt, who is believed to be his grandmother. Men from the local Jail were taken out on the farm to grow food and other plants to support the large house full of old people, mentally incompetent people who had no other home. Regarding the Thornton / Foster connection. There is a Thornton line starting with Henrietta Foster Wick who married Jesse Thornton who died on May 20, 1895. Morneweck's Foster Genealogy has several generations of Thorntons listed until the 1930s. Since her Chronicles were published in 1944, there is nothing later.

I just read this e-mail from you. My Mattie died in 1937. She & her father, Billie Foster, are the only Fosters I have info on. I'm beginning to think these people plus my mom's ggrandmother were just dropped out of the sky. All of my relatives are deceased except for a few & they could care less about genealogy.
