Hello!
Arget is situated between Pau and Mont de Marsan, rightly so in region Aquitaine. Why does this name come up with your search?
You might want to look at a Sephardic Forum at Yahoo Groups to see a discussion about the name LAFITTE, the pirate in Louisiana and in the Gulf of Mexico.
The name LAFITTE represents di
Oh, Myriam,
You make me want to travel! My cousin went to Eysus
and visited family members there. He sent me pictures
of the old family home, which is still in the family
and has been for 200 years!
All the pictures I've seen of that area of Europe -
Southern France, the Pyrenees and Northern Spain look
beautiful.
When my grandparents, their relatives and friends came
to America, the settled in San Francisco. I found a
very interesting article on a website called San

Hello:
Thanks very much for your kind answer.
Arget is my search because my great grandfather was born in Arget, his name was Jean Laffite born 1849, and my grandfather too was born in Arget, and I want to get their birth certificates, he was born around 1886-88 (not too sure), he (my grandfather) and two cousins emigrated to La Ceiba, Honduras in the early 1900 (I think), he had a sister by the name of Augustine, that used to visit him in Honduras.
During my search I have found a 2nd cousin by the nam
Dear Jeanne:

Thanks a million. Good luck.
Kindest regards,
Myriam

The more research I do on my grandparents' families, the more I think that our families come from a wonderful area of Europe. The Aquitaine area of France and the Aragon area of Northern Spain have a wonderful and interestsing history.

Good Evening,
You are probably looking at Sainte-Foy-la-Grande in department of la Gironde, approximately 2'8000 inhabitants, near the city of Libourne, also in Gironde. You should be aware that there are many hamlets that depend upon the town hall of Sainte-Foy-la-Grande.
I am going by there on a search tomorrow.
What are you looking for? I can probably give you some advice.
Most Sincerely,
Jacques de Guise

I am not related to any Laffites, but my mom's side of the family comes from Eysus and Oloron St. Marie; those are both in the same area as Arget and Pau. My grandparents used to talk about Pau.
Their family names are Lagrave, Labrucherie, Regla and Marraco.

Hello again Jeanne:
Very interesting, I read the newspaper.
Last year my cousin last year went to Barcelona and from there she went to Pau, and traveled through France, she was fascinated with all.
My French relatives immigrated to La Ceiba, Honduras all the Laffite/Laffitte/Lafitte that are leaving in Honduras, we are all relatives, well.. needless to say, I went to boarding school in Canada and then finished my schooling in NY, and been leaving here for many years, married and have three grown up sons
