1. RE: Block errors in surnames [1]
Yes because we will add System Entries that represent entries that are not actually in the index but which we believe should be. If entries are marked with a #THEORY we will add System Entries in due course. We will add System Entries for the ones you have noted. 2. Re: Block errors in surnames [1]
Presumably you are transcribing 1863 June Births for the Orphan Syndicates. I am also working on this group and have found many likely typing errors such as this. I believe these pages must have been re-typed from the originals (?). The many typos in District names and forenames I leave as they are without comment but for possible surname 'errors' such as you have found, which are potentially much more serious, I insert a #THEORY line to indicate what I think has happened then someone at FreeBMD can
3. Progress graph [1]
Greetings Just a small point - if and when your programmers are next working in that area would it be possible to repeat the vertical axis on the right-hand side, it is a real nuisance getting the ruler level to take areading from the left-hand axis. Or am I the only one who looks the graph?
4. highjacked family [1]
Evening everyone, I was attempting to find more vital info on the boys of my gggparents from York, Yorkshire on surnamenavigator.org>ancestral search> and an american has highjacked them!!!! They've taken them to Utah I think & buried them there, including my ggpa who actually died in Sydney, NSW. He married & had 6 sons over here. I have his death cert in front of me. Doesn't have any parent info on it unfortunately. My cousin Matthew di most of the 'leg work' for this one. It actually has Sy
5. 1881B3 [1]
Is there a reason why Sept 1881 births don't feature at all on FreeBMD. There are no scans and apart from 1910B4 it is the only quarter between 1837 and 1911, where transcription has yet to start. Christopher Richards
6. RE: 1881B3 [1]
Hi Chris, 1881B3 is on our wish list for scans that Ancestry have agreed to supply us with. They have attempted to supply them in the past, but unfortunately they sent us the wrong quarter. As soon as they are re-supplied and renamed/uplaoded, then I am sure that Allan will arrange for them to be allcoated to a syndicate as a matter of urgency. Best wishes Kevin. -----Original Message----- From: freebmd-discuss-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:freebmd-discuss-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Christopher M
7. Block errors in surnames [1]
I know we are not attempting to correct the GRO indexes but is there any point in flagging up errors such as block errors in surnames when a typist overlooks a surname change? Since moving over from handwritten to typed indexes I've come across one or two of these recently. (So much for the GRO's quality control and supervision in the past which I think must have been quite appalling judging from the errors the typists made on district names for a start.) In 1863B2-S-1044.jpg I suspect the typist ha
