Hello,
A distant ancestor of mine was called Jean de la Vigne. He was born in Valenciennes, France, around 1560, and died in Amsterdam, Holland after 1622. He was also an ancestor of David Ackerman, who emigrated to the United States in 1662 and whose line has been studied extensively.
I understand that Jean de la Vigne

Jean de la Vigne is not an ancestor of David Ackerman but of David's grandson's (Guilian Ackerman) mother (Aeltie Van Laer).
Sorry.

Hello Joyce,
The ancestor you sought has his tomb in my family resting place (2 hours drive off Paris).
I have a photo of his tombstone which I tried to send you at rjhaak@bigzoo.net but it bounced on an invalid address.
Give me a valid address to which I can send it.
Regards,
Raoul

Hi,
According to a family chronicle written about 1900, the Schurdel family of East Prussia came from a French Count who left France at the time of the revolution. He rented an estate in East Prussia and there changed his name to Schurdel.
The original name was de la Chorle, or something similar.
If you are referrinng to the Olivier family, would be delighted to receive
the photo!
Thank you.

should check with the Dutch-Colonies list. They are very helpful. Also
