Not really any good ideas. Assuming that D:\ is your CD-ROM driv
When a make an ancestor box chart in VCF, the Chart is always aligned to the left. Is there an easy way to center it? I see that under Options I can specify the distance from the left margin, but I have to do this before I see the chart. Would it not be possible to center or otherwise position the chart after it is made?

Probably because it can not write to the CD (assuming your D: drive is your
CD) .. try running it from either START or from your ADD/DELETE programs.
Browse for the CD and file setup.exe.

Hello Bonita.
Below is the very quick reply that I received from Bob Velke.

The two file formats are not compatible. You can run both programs at the
same time, however, and drag the older chart and drop it onto a blank
canvas on the newer one. Then save the new chart as a VC2 and it has been
converted.

Have you looked at the "Tour" of FTST on the Wholly Genes website? I would think
that would offer some good ideas of points to demonstrate.

Hello,
I just purchased TMG 4.0 Silver and FTST 1.1. I have
a Windows XP system and TMG installed fine (minor
problems only); however FTST refuses to install.
When I try to run D:\setup.exe from the CD-ROM, I get
a dialog box stating that D:\setup.exe is not a valid
Windows executable. Has anyone seen this problem, or
have any ideas as to what's causing it? (or is it just
me?) Thanks for any help you can offer--

Hi Ken.
I cannot help with your problem but I recently purchased the software and
had problems with it not performing correctly. I contacted their Tech
Support and they were amazingly quick and very helpful. It

You can accent on Data Set ID. I'm not sure that helps, given your other
needs.

Thanks to Lee and Steven for responding to my problem. But you didn't
solve it! The button in definition screen was on. What I figured out was
that when I refreshed the dataset, my ancestor flag ( not Ances
interest) which had initials of surnames that were to be accented
disappeared in FTST. I checked back in TMGW and they were in the flag
list with the appropriate initials, strange. I ended up finally deleting
the data set and project and then imported from scratch and everything
is working fine. I gues
Following my first post to the group about the problems I am having I
thought it might be a good idea to upload some screen shots of the problems
so that you could all see them. I would appreciate any possible solutions.

I had sent a message to Dorothy at WG .. she said that if the one dataset
had a specific flag set, I could use it. I was afraid that the dataset ID
means the individual's ID.

No, it means the dataset number -- the number that appears

Although Ron O'Neil answered that he needed to get a replacement for the
EXE, there isn't a general incompatibility here. FTST has been
successfully installed and run on thousands of XP systems. Of course, if
it turns out that the CD

Oh dear, I wasn't planning on an upgrade for a while, having had to do so to
get TMG loaded in the first place a year ago.
Thanks for you response however Christopher

I'm thinking of trying FTST, but before I do, I need to know...is there a
programmed (or practical) limit to the number of datasets or Megs of data
you can have in a project? For example, I run a one-name study that has
about 30 Legacy databases with a total of around 66 MB of data. It would be
interesting to put all of these databases into one project so I could look
for duplicates (crossovers between lines), but could FTST handle it? Would
it work at all, or would it bog down, or would things go swimmingl
Yes, but when I ran Norton to test my hardware, I found that one of my
memory SDRAMS was failing.

Depending on your computer- yes.
Putting all those sets into one project could take hours.. or until the
release of TMG 8.0
Response time would probably range from tolerable to that of an arthritic
snail..

That used to be my experience with Win 98 and 128 megs of RAM on a P3

froze when trying to compile large indexes (
