A fan chart is an ancestral chart, not a descendant chart, i.e., it shows
the ancestors of the selected individual....

Thanks, Bob! I think the subject in bold is much better. Also thanks for
the life span dates on the subject and parents. Numerous gratitudes for
fixin' the sensitivity thingys.
I am sure all the other things I wanted -- including a very large flat
screen monitor -- will be in the next update. :-)

Hi Cheri,
I have 2 permanent bookmarks, one for my husband and one for myself. If I
switch between us using the drop down bookmark list, the bookmark changes
accordingly. Also works with more bookmarks set. Is that what you're after?
However it doesn't seem to change when using e.g. Project Explorer or
Picklist to
switch between persons. I don't know if it is supposed to, but agree that
it would be nice if it did.

Just to make sure that everyone heard.....
Tonight's scheduled online chat has been postponed until we arrange for
different chat software.
The chat and the postponement were announced in the Wholly Genes Newsletter

I have noticed that VCF sees blank pages as part of a chart; in Print
Preview, for an alleged 5 page chart, pages 2 and 4 are entirely blank -
why are these pages not eliminated since there are no objects on them?
Repaginate does not fix this.
thanks, beth

Posing a question is not considered complaining, at least not by me.
At least not the first time, or maybe even the second time. Your complaints
about printing blank pages went past my internal counter, and I could no
longer sit quietly on the sidelines. You very seldom see me post to this
newsgroup. When I do, I usually say something witty (I was in the Seminary
for three years, so my sense of humor is somewhat suspect), but not c

Thanks Virginia and Paul. Now I have the PV colors and the Picklist font
the way I want them.
I did not realize that there was a different Task Bar for VCF. One has to
look under Tools/Diagram/Repaginate on the TOOLS that is on the VCF Task
Bar. Thank you so much. Repaginate is marvelous. I'm delighted with the
VC2. Nothing could be easier than ordering a printed chart from WG from VC2.

Astrid was inquiring about bookmarks and I decided to revisit mine and I am curious about something. I know that I can select one of the bookmarks from the toolbar (once turned on).
My question is this: I have two bookmarks currently set. One for John Anderson (the top of the tree for that line) and one for myself. The dataset automatically comes up to me (don't know why or haven't figured out how to make that change), but once my Person View is up, the List of Bookmarked People shows John Anderson's n

CheriC's comment about John Henry, father and son with same name, reminds me
that I have the custom of adding the suxix: (Sr) and (Jr) in parenthases, to
help ME distinguish between them even though they did not use the terms. It's
very helpful.

I've just downloaded my FTST and am trying to learn how to use it. However, I've struck a big problem in that I'm a Family Origins user and I can't import my .Fow file into FTST. I've read the Help and it tells you if you have problems to run a Pack (compress) on FO. I've done this, but still can't get it to import. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it? My FO is version 9. I'd be grateful for any help as I'm itching to use my new application.

hope).

In FTST, when in the picklist, I enter my letters in the Search block, the
highlight moves in the picklist to what I entered. Now, in order to get the
cursor down to the highlighted entry in the picklist, I need to click on the
highlighted entry with the mouse. Only then can I page down thru the
picklist (assuming that's what I want to do). Say I have lots of Smiths in
my data set. I type in smi to get to the first Smith in the list. I then
should be able to Page Down 3 or 4 times to get to Frank Smith

Does somebody know how to import these settings into FTST? I hope it is
not one of those occasions when the obvious answer is so plain & it is
embarrassing to admit you didn't see it---but I don't see it. Take pity on
me & give me the secret, please. rondie

Some of us are wondering what you are complaining about.
Just shows Bob will *never* be able to make everybody happy.

How about 'Subdued Colours'? <
Yes, that's probably a more accurate description. Most items are the
single color with limited use of a second color for active items.
Whatever .
