As there has been no response to my question, I can only conclude no one else knows how to do this either. Linda

His Jadedness, Andy; Lord Tofu2u2, Earl of the Jade Stick suggested, Bob, Why not just include one digit in the Children's Window column. If the digit is a "1" its the first spouse, "2" the second, etc. The user can quickly see how many spouses are attributed to the currently focused person by a quick glance down the one digit column. If the highest number in the column is "3" and the child of interest sho

My point is that you do not have to reapply some of those items you mention. You don't have to reapply any of the Program Preferences. If you have not deleted the project you don't have to reapply any of Project Preferences except the Auto Relationship tag setting and only that one if the data set you are deleting and importing has the individual used in the setting. You don't have to recreate or reapply the Layout. Timelines, as I said I was not that familiar with, but as I think about it you would

9. [FTST] Re: [TMG] FTST [1]
Hi, all I am very concerned about the slowness of FTST. It is sluggish on my 900mgh desktop with 256mb of ram and practically unuseable on my laptop with on 64mb of ram. I don't know the clock speed of my laptop; probably around 500. Is this indicative of how it will work in v. 5 of TMG? I speeded things up a little by not running anything else with FTST and defragmenting my drives, but the picklist is so slow as to be unuseable. Would adding Ram help? Nancy

Bonita - I think the idea is to use Project Explorer to identify potential candidates for a second look. Then use the capability to open two "instances" of FTST at the same time with the same project open in both. Then bring up the Person View or whichever you like of one candidate in one instance, and the other candidate in the second. Terry Reigel
11. [FTST] Picklist - Event List - order of events [1]
In the Picklist - Event List mode, it seems the tags are listed in "display" date order, rather than sort date order - is there a way to cause them to be listed in order by sort date? I can see myself frequently going to the tag in question to double-check that I did not leave the sort date blank. thanks, beth _____________________ Researching Surnames: Buckland, Chillson, Coulter, Crosby, Farnham, Frankish, Griffin, Johns, Somers, Spafford Anderson, Arpin, Bennington, Breckenridge, Johnston, Morrison, Ro

Everyone has a point of view that may improve on your suggestions Okay, The view in TMG 4.0 has room to list a FAMILY. A mother, a father, 23 children, 4 grandchildren. All I am saying is could we have a listing of children on the family view. Even if you couldn't click on them and change to their view, it would be helpful to

Yes there are data that I can see on one screen **without** having to open/resize/scan up and down another window. I stated: I think part of this gets back to the font size. When I do what you have done, I cannot read the names, dates, places (or anything else) in the Detail window without a magnifying glass.
16. Re: [FTST] Vertical scroll bar inside Picklist [1]
Beth, I also use a LogiTech optical mouse. Every so often I experience the same thing as you, but not in FTST - yet. When it occurs, it scrolls pages in any software I have open (when the pointer is on the scroll bar), and trying to click on a bookmark in IE requires a quick finger and some luck as it speeds by. I can't determine a cause. It has happened with new batteries as well as those almost spent. Fortunately, it doesn't happen often, and rebooting has always solved the problem. Laura At 06:45

The alternative to calculating it each time is to save it in the file structure (making projects bigger) and to recalculate it for every connected person each time that any relationship is added, deleted, or changed (making TMG5 slower). 19. Re: [FTST] Re: Processor speed & dissatisfaction [1]
I just had a lightning strike at my home on Wednesday night and it got both of my computers, one was 850mhz and the other was 900mhz. I now have a 1.7Ghz to replace one of them and I am expecting another fast computer to replace the other one. I hope this does not affect the beta tests as I have computers that are too fast to find problems. When I started beta testing I was using a 200mhz but it crashed also. I'm not sure what is the best way to do it since "(1 of 3)" takes a lot of room for those of us who like to make that window rather small. If it is before the name (ala TMG4) then we'll see that much less of the name and if it is after the name then it might as well not be there because we won't notice it.
