Autumn,
The SSDI database begins in the 1960s, so it is very unlikely that you would
find a record for Rosa there. Also, remember that not everyone is in the
SSDI database until around 2001.
There are two places you should start.
#1 - Pennsylvania Department of Health: http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us:
you have to be an extended family member who has a direct relationship to
the deceased. Death certificates often have the Social Security number of
the deceased.
#2 - Social Security Administration: writ
Hello list. I need help in determining how my 3rd gr.
grandmother died. One death certificate states she
was burned, a second states she died of whooping cough.
Both death records are from the county courthouse.
Does anyone know another way I can determine which
one is accurate?
Thanks,
April.

She probably died as a result of both causes. The whooping cough was probably
always present. You might check with the state death records for verification
also.I hope this helps.

Hi April,
I have trouble finding one death certificate for some of my ancestors, and
you have two for the same person? Are both documents actual death
certificates, or is one a coroner's report, or something else? Does anyone
at the courthouse know why two "death certificates" might have been issued
for one person? Are you certain that both are for the same person? Is the
only difference in the certificates the cause of death? Did the same doctor
provide the cause of death on both certificates? Are t
Several of you have asked how my ancestor had 2
different death records on file at the courthouse.
Thank you to everyone who has offered suggestions on
how to determine her cause of death. They have all been
so helpful. And I am trying every one of those suggestions,
they were all very insightful. Thanks so much again.
How it happened.....
Well, when she died in 1882, her death was entered into the
courthouse death register, in a book, as a death record.

I just got Grandma Rose's death certificate!
She passed July of 1962 in Philadelphia, and was buried in Marshall Grove in Sandersville. Parents are listed as unknown, as well as her husband's name (which is careless). I'm starting to entertain the idea that 1. grandma Rose was an orphan, or 2. DIXON was her married name (maybe when was married before Walter).
I had picked up on her relation to Sussie Veal--who appears with her in the Washington County, GA 1930 census as her cousin.
Will need to
If I can't find a death for Rose (Rosa/Rosy) PEELER on Ancestry.com, nor on the RootsWeb site social security search--will I not find a SS# application on her--or a death record?
Rosa PEELER (1885-1960?) was born Rosy Dixon in Georgia, married Walter PEELER, had 4 children and died Rose PEELER in PA. Her body was transported back to Washington County for services. She may be in the Marsh Grove cemetery.
Hi All!
Excited to see in the archives folks chatting about real genealogical issues!
I am new and wanted to introduce my self, and share my search. My big focus is currently the PEELERS.
Following the Civil War, two PEELER brothers married two TEMPLE sisters. Both young couples settled in Washington County where they started their families.
The PEELER boys' father's name was Randall. In one of Tump (sometimes Tusk and sometimes Trump) censuses, Randall was said to be from NC. And some stories I've foun
