I am researching the Hollinshed family origin. My father Charles Hollinshed was born in Marshallville GA 1919. His mother's maiden name was Iola Banks. We do not know what his father's name was. He also has a brother named James. I would like any information regarding the Hollinshed's from this area - births, deaths, marriages, etc.
I found a great BenHill County Genealogy Site:

They will be adding over 1 billion names to their online database over the next few months.
I heard that Fitzgerald had a pow camp during WW II near where Legion Park is now. The German boys worked on the surrounding farms. Anyone know anything about it?

What cemetery books do you have. My father's family, Allen, are from Abbeville. Trying to find out more on my great grand father, Able William Allen, his son was James Wade Allen, know that James is buried at Mt Zion. If you have any info of such, would greatly appreciate

I have cemetery records for Ben Hill, Turner, Irwin, & Berrien Co. Sorry I don't have Wilcox Co (Abbeville, Ga), but I worked for years with a lady from Wilcox co. who married a Beall. I attended Mt. Zion Church as a child, and remember a gentleman named Allen also attended. I a
Yes, there must have been a pow camp near Irwin County. My Dad had German
soldiers working on our farm. He just said that we had captured them and
they were over here until things could be worked out. The fellows seemed to
enjoy being on the farm. I do not know how they were paid, nor any of the
details of the arrangement.
It is strange that I never viewed them as being POW's until this e-mail.
