2. Gadberry Researchers List-As of 3 January 2001 [1]
Dear Gadberry/Gadbury Researchers: This is the most recent revision to the list of us that are interested in Gadberry/Gadbury research. I've made some corrections and additions that were recently submitted to me. You are encouraged to contact others on this list. Please let me know of any errors that I need to correct or if you feel someone should be added to this list, or if you would rather not be a part of this list? 3. John Gadberry b. abt 1760 [1]
I recently updated the gedcom on my web page for the Descendnats of John Gadberry, born abt 1760 (father of Jonathan b. 1805). There are 905 individuals in this gedcom. You can download it from the web page. As usual please let me know of errors and changes or additions. Roy Juch
4. Yazoo Co., MS Gadberrys [1]
Hello Harold, Thanks again for your information about the Gadberrys of Yazoo County, MS. I can understand your frustration in trying to find the Gadberry/Smith link. I sure hope I never have to research "Smith". My Brown & Miller are hard enough! In the case you mention below in my opinion if Thomas b. 1775 had been married previously his children would certainly have traveled with him to Barren Co., KY from NC. I've never been able to find any records in Barren Co that identify those Gadberry's you

6. Re: A New Puzzle Piece [1]
I will try sending this again; the first one I sent out somehow just got 'snarfed up' along the way: It is a sad fact of human nature and history that people tend to make slaves of other people. Here in this country when the Civil War was over, and the Afro-Americans (and Indians too) found themselves 'freedmen' the government told them they had to choose 'American' names. For most of them, the only name they had ever heard was the name of their former masters, and so they adopted the name of that person.
7. Gadberry Surname [1]
Hi Marcia: Sorry for the delay in responding to your email. We have been traveling for the past two weeks. Thanks for all the Gadberry information below. Especially the I don't believe I gave this to you but can always accept the credit! I accessed the web page and have sent an email to Treven Dunning. Although you are busy I do appreciate your taking the time to write. If you are able to locate any evidence of the parentage of Nathaniel #1 from your mother's research papers all

Where are the Afro American Gadberry's in all of this? I know they exist because I met some in the Army. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lou Ann Chamberlin" To: Sent: Friday, January 12, 2001 11:43 PM Subject: A New Puzzle Piece > Does anyone have any information on one Keziah M. 9. Re: Gadberry Researchers List-As of 3 January 2001 [1]
Roy, I too am researching the Gadberry's as 3 of the Gadberry's married into the KELLER family in Cumberland County, IL during the 1850 - 1890's. What I am wondering is if they would of all come from the Nathanial Gadberry line. Any help with this family would be appreciated. Thank you, Kate Keller Bourland 808 Shenandoah Ave. Effingham, IL 62401-4512 kateb@xel.net > Dear Gadberry/Gadbury Researchers: > > This is the most recent revision to the list of us that are interested in > Gadberry/Gadbury researc
10. Will of Mary Mason Barlow wife of William Barlow [1]
Thanks to Phyllis Solter & Lindsay Thomas: While doing research prompted by Lindsay Thomas's email to the list, I ran into this will for Mary Mason Barlow mother of the Mary Barlow that married William Gadberry, son of Thomas Gadberry, Jr. & Prudence Street. It also shows Rhonda Gadbury as a witness which further strengthens the Family Unit of Thomas, Jr. >In the name of God amen, I Mary Barlow of the County of Caroline being in >Perfect >sense and memory, God be praised for it but considering the frail
11. Re: James and the Yazoo Gadberrys [1]
Harold -- Since the first message got scrambled by AOL, I will re-send without the two Tables that caused Rootsweb to reject the post. Let me know if you were unable to read the Tables, and perhaps I can find a way to send them to you. I greatly enjoyed reading about James M. Gadberry of Union Co. The history is fascinating! Too bad the only previous mention of him is one line in the Gadberry Family Research Index: Gadberry, James m 1861 Soldier S. Carolina Inf. Civil War When
12. George W. Gadberry [1]
I have been searching for information regarding George W. Gadberry who married Betsey Ann Ellis on Apr 23, 1861 in Casey County, KY. Some time ago I corresponded with Roy Juch about this couple. Betsey Ann Ellis was the daughter of James and Ann Thomas Ellis of Casey County; she was born about 1845. I would love to find out if this couple had any children, where they lived after their marriage, and where interred. Thank you for any help or leads that anyone might be able to send my way. Juanita -- Not much on this John: 1840 ILL Jackson Co. John Gadberry 20-30 1 f 20-30 1 m 0-5 Pg 258 1840 ILL Jackson Co. Jackson Gadberry 15-20 1 f 20-30 Pg 256 Tantalizing-- John b 1814 would be age 26 in 1840. But according to most accounts, this John, and his wife, Mary Ann King, were still in Greene county Indiana, where their third child William Marion would be born on 10 December 1840 in Point Commerce. I would sure like to find out what year this John sold h
14. John Gadberry 1840 in Ill. [1]
Hope all have a healthy and happy 2001. Does anyone on the list have anything on John Gadberry who appears in Jackson Co. Ill for the 1840 census ? He shows to be in the 20-30 age group, placing birth 1810-1820. He had one male child under five ...and probably had others soon, in Illinois. Any help appreciated. Juanita
15. Re: James and the Yazoo Gadberrys [1]
Joseph -- Sorry to say, but the Gadberry Family Research Index dosen't show the "Spouse/Parent/Other" field for your Colonel J.M. Gadberry. It simply says: "Name, 1861, Colonel, S. Carolina, Civil War " So I would guess that this record came from Confederate Military Records. You could try to locate the original. But if he was killed in battle, and didn't file for a pension, there may not be any record of his parents. Good luck! Howard
16. Missing Gadberrys from Indiana [1]
Mary-- This is great! I think you have just located part of the family of John Gadberry, missing since the 1840 Indiana Census! -- But it is largely circumstantial at this point. You said that the information came from an Index, and I am concerned about the age and the spelling of Careline Gadbury. The enumerators script can be read many ways! Here is the saga as I would interpret it. Can you or any of the other Gadberry researchers comment on this tale? John Gadberry married Mary Ann King, March 183
17. Re: Gadberry/Gadbury genealogy status [1]
I am a self-proclaimed interloper into the GADBERRY Family line. Currently I do not know of any direct kinship with that family, but in two separate instances, my blood kin seems to be associated in some way with the GADBERRYS. The oldest instance is mentioned first, and then a separate letter will follow with a second set of instances. A THOMAS GADBERRY II of Chesterfield County, VA married a widow SARAH SMITH (nee MCKEE). The wedding took place in Rowan County, N. C. about 1805. SARAH had firs

Kate Alfred Henry Gadberry also went to Cumberland Co. Ill. and he purchased land there 7/1/1852 He came from Davies Co. Indiana where he was born and married. Alfred was born in Davies co. about 1820 son of James Gadberry. Some of his children born in Cumberland Co. Ill (one of which is my G Grandfather John Daniel Gadberry) before moving to MO. I know little about Alfred Marion, I just wanted to be sure there was no confusion between Alfred's. The only Alfred Marion I show was the
19. Thank You! [1]
I want to thank the 25 of you that have signed up and say that I'm sorry that I may have sent you two of the same messages. Please just delete one of them. I'll go back and correct my non-rootsweb list to delete those of you that have joined the rootsweb list so this doesn't happen again. Guess we should start using the rootsweb mail list now more frequently? Roy Juch
20. King/Gadberry Line [1]
Oy, vey! This gets more complicated all the time...somewhere, by somebody a 'million' years ago in my family, I was told my g-grandfather Joseph Wiley King died when Grandpa was only thirteen, which would have been about 1902? But today Mom and I were looking through an old family album, and there was a picture of him in 1918! It was very faint, but I finally was able to read the writing across the bottom of the photo...it said; "At grandma's in Soledad (California) 1918." And then Mom told me she was ab

23. Grinstead/Winstead [1]
Hello Harold, I suppose that one could decipher someone's poor writing of Grinstead as Winstead but that's only a guess. I have thought of that also but decided that we needed more proof such as the same given names as example. I am interested in everything you will share on James M. Gadberry because I want to tie him into an ancestral family someday if possible? Roy, My files are in disarray right now, but please check to see if you have the info I sent quite some time ago on Coryell Co Tx. Probate 1870s. His heirs were from Yazoo Ms.. among them W.Y. Gadberry and Perry. I will continue to check my misc notes in the meanwhile. Juanita Roy Juch wrote: > Hello Harold, > Thanks again for your information about the Gadberrys of Yazoo County, MS.
