Frances, I belive the proof will be in school records that have been recently found in the Elbert Co. GA Courthouse basement. I remember briefly reading in an issue of the Savannah River Valley Genealogical Society SRVGS newsletter, in an article, ( I have a copy of that article somewhere but I'm in the process of moving again, however back issues of the newsletter can be ordered ) showed that Joseph E. Crawford Henderson 2) Elbert Hartwell Thompson, married Martha Scott, with a child Sarah F. Thompson 3) William H. Crawford Henderson, married Sarah F. William ALSTON (b. 25 Dec 1736) the son of Solomon and Nancy Alston, was married to his cousin, Charity Alston, daughter of James and Christian Alston. They settled in Elbert Co., GA where William Alston died in 1810. His widow died in 1823. They had the following children: Ann, Christian, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, George, Solomon, William, Peter, and James.
