Judy, To find an obituary for any person, go to the "Funeral Net" site: http://www.funeralnet.com/search.html When you get the funeral homes available for that town or county, write or e-mail the possible funeral homes, asking if your person's service was held there. I am looking for info on Abraham Burton of Franklin Co. who was in the 1850 census with son William John Burton (I believe my gr-gr-grandfather). Abraham supposedly died in Arkansas in 1857 but I can't find any documentation that states where in Arkansas he died. In 1850, he had several minor children and no wife listed so if he died in 1857 there should be some guardianship papers on record somewhere. Can anyone help me w/these people? Thomas AKINS d. Franklin Co. 1839. Would like to get probate/estate records. His wife was Polly (Mary) BRISTOW. Who were their parents? James S. RUSSELL lived in Anderson Co., SC and m. Nancy AKINS in Franklin Co., 20 Mar 1818. They moved to Gwinnett Co., GA. Who were his parents? His War 1812 pension said he enlisted in Pendleton Dist., SC. Hi, Someone posted a message yesterday on the Strickland list and mentioned a John Strickland from Georgia that she was researching. It got me thinking about MY John Strickland. Could Rhoda be the dau of Robert Walters, Jr. I have a Robert Walters, Jr. b VA, died Franklin Co., GA, with a dau named Rhoda. Could they be the same ? Terri, Kezekiah Stokes Conolly was the 2nd wife of Samuel Pruitt, Jr. His 1st wife was Lavinia Walters, mother of all of his children, except the one that Samuel and Kezia had together, named John Willis Pruitt. (Samuel Pruitt Jr., was known as Samuel III, because his father was named Samuel and his grandfather was named Samuel.) I'll add this to Anita's good information (thanks Anita for the Web site). You can use the cemetery information also. I've found several of those cemeteries are still maintained and with sextons (is that term still used?). Whomever maintains the cemetery can tell you a lot sometimes...such as where your ancestor is buried (lot and block), even if the plot is unmarked. They might even be able to tell you which funeral home now has a defunct or merged funeral home's records. One particular search of mine wa

Judy: According to the Georgia Death Index, Scott A. Kerr died 7-29-1981 in STEPHENS County at the age of 60. His Death Certificate No. 26988. Stephens County joins Franklin County to the North. Isn't there an 1820 Reconstructed Census for Franklin County, GA? If I remember right, it does not give a lot of info, but it does give the districts they lived in if they are listed, if I remember right. gayle
