1. Re: [] HELP NEEDED TO SAVE 1924 Randolph Lucas Mansion in Buckhead - [1]
If I may add to Brenda's e-mail, I would also suggest contacting the Atlanta History Center at: for it seems to me they should be able to aide as well, this is also where the Atlanta Historical Society is located (same number). I live in Atlanta & it is shameful how our city & its leaders (& many people) let our history get torn down each & every day! If it were not for the Tullie Smith house being at the Atlanta History Center, gosh knows my Third Great Grandfather Robert Hiram Smith (& Eliza

4. Re: Harris, Jailettte, Miller, Nixon / Welcome All Cemetery needs help! [1]
Shirley -- I live in Southern California, and no, I have not ever been to Welcome All. Evelyn Elizabeth (Harris) Miller Nixon was married to a distant cousin of my husband's Nixon line. I have spent the past 10 years trying to put them back together -- from 3000 miles west. I finally figured out this past weekend how she connected, though I had her burial record, SS # application, & death certificate in my files for several years. So, no I do not know any useful family connections. I was hoping my po

7. RE: [GAFULTON] Atlanta City Directories [1]
Roy, City directories are available for Atlanta beginning in 1859. Here are the available years for the early period: 1859, 1867, 1870, 1871, 1872, 1874, 1875, 1876, 1877, 1878, 1879, 1880, 1881, 1882, 1883, 1884, 1885, 1889, 1890 There are originals at the Atlanta History Center, and I believe at the main Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library. They are also on microfilm. I do not think that LDS has all the years on microfilm, although Duke University does have them on film and fiche. Hope this helps. P

13. Atlanta City Directories [1]
Hello fellow researchers. Can anyone tell me if there are city directories for Atlanta for the years 1875 - 1880? I'm trying to find an ancestor who I've recently learned may have been in Atlanta during those years before winding up in Florida in 1880. Thank you, Roy Meyer Sparland, Illinois

15. Re: [GAFULTON] Fulton Cemeteries. [1]
I am the historian for Birmingham United Methodist Church in North Fulton, near the intersection of Birmingham Highway and Birmingham Roads (north of Alpharetta). Our church began about two miles south of the current location on what is now Taylor Road. The first burial in the cemetery was that of Jacob Hook in 1855, who donated land for the church and cemetery. There are about twenty marked graves. We recently had a church member inquire about burial there and I asked the local funeral direc
16. HELP NEEDED TO SAVE 1924 Randolph Lucas Mansion in Buckhead - [1]
THe 1924 Randolph Lucas Mansion in Buckhead is earmarked for destruction if people do not voice enough concerns to save it. http://www.atlantaga.gov/government/urbandesign_randolphlucas.aspx The AJC today reported that the historic designation would have to be removed through a rezoning - it's meeting is slated for March 29 by the council's zoning committe. (Atlanta City Council)... Basically a deal was made back in 1997 by condo developers to keep the house, now apparently they do not want to mainta
