Yes I have found it and its location is Sandy Springs Cemetery on the north
side of Mt. Vernon Hwy. I have talked to a Mr. Burdette who is with the
church and it was owned by his family years ago. At this time I am waiting
for a death certificate to verify the person I have is the same one.

Does anyone know if very old birth certificates like 1890-1900 are available
to descendants or do they still follow the guidelines of only being available
to the person or guardian? If so, why is that. Many of my family members
were born in Atlanta around the turn of the century. Thanks for your help.

See below. Does anyone know if the 1925 State Census exists for
Fulton/DeKalb Counties and where I could look at them? Do I write to the
county or the state and which office/department?
DOING CENSUS RESEARCH --by Diana J. Muir
Some census records, such as those in the 1920 Federal Census, are
indexed by a system called Soundex. All names sounding alike are
assigned a code, and families with those names (listed on separate
cards) are grouped together on microfilm. That way, even if you don't

Rose,
States that restrict obtaining birth certificates do so usually for 100
years after the event. My guess is to prevent people from stealing a dead
persons identity. With a birth certificate you could create a new life for
yourself.

A follow-up to my original posting about state censuses. The good news is
they do exist. The bad news is that I was unable to locate any for this
county. I went to the Mesa, AZ Family History Library and asked and they
directed me to 2 microfiche (6104851states beginning A-L & 6104852 M-Z). I
looked on the fiche and did not see any censuses for the counties I am
posting this to (Maricopa Co., AZ, DeKalb Co., GA, Fulton Co., GA, Lincoln
Co,. TN). There were however, some entries for other AZ counties li

I'm working on a "lost" branch of my family tree that may lead through Fulton County.
Lawrence Francis BLACK died April 22, 1974 near Denver, Colorado. According to his obituary in the Rocky Mountain News, Lawrence was survived by two sons. One son lived in Denver but I have been unable to locate him. The other son, William L. BLACK, lived in Atlanta. He was likely born around 1925 but I've been unable to verify his death using the Social Security Death Records.
