Her name was Mary Bell Wells and she married Willy David Hughes (also from Gordon County). Her parents were Glenn Wells and Amanda Wells ( maiden name unknown). So when her son (my great uncle)
2. [GAGORDON] Mote, Sampler,Tate,Porter, Miller, Howard, England [1]
Silas Mote and Elizabeth Unknown were among the earliest settlers in the Gordon/Whitfield, Murray. Tradition says White Plains was first names Silas Mote. They had a large family who had some degree of prominence in the area. One son Wells is said to have owned the land that eventually be came the Resaca Memorial. Would love to hear from other Mote researchers. Especially need to learn Silas' and Elizabeth's lineage. Thank you
