Mary,
Although I research Gallaghers, I have no great help for you in your quest.
My line of Gallaghers all left Co Sligo before 1851 to come to the north-east of England (coal mining).
I have traced most of their consequent "events" in England, then in USA ( McKeesport, Allegheny, Pa) and Canada(Ontario).

John,
We do have the same family. They lived in Butler, Pa. Luzerne County in 1880. John Gallagher was born on Feb 29, 1860 in Tamaqua, Pa. Schuylkill County not far away. I found the family on the 1860 census in Tamaqua, Pa. Page 81. They are listed as Galacher. John from Ireland, Ellen from Ireland.

I am from the same family as Patrick Gallagher. I am a direct decendant of his brother John born feb 29, 1860 in Tamaqua, Pa. If you check out the 1860 census for Tamaqua, Pa. Schuylkill county. Page 81. The census taker spelled the name wrong. They have John listed as 3 months 12 days old. Exact hit.
...FYI.....Incase you were not aware, which I believe is not true,
Neil was also shortened for Cornelius...not necessarily Con....Just a
thought...
