Hi Larry...The last I heard the Allen County Library (main library) had a copy/original.. .. I'm not certain which. Whether or not they will do/allow you to do copying, I don't know...if they have an original, probably they will insist they do it; if it's microfilm I'm fairly certain they would allow you to do it yourself (and this would be much, much, cheaper!). I believe it would be in the main library (I noticed there were several branches).

Thanks Barbara. Believe it or not, I just returned from studying genealogy in Iowa. While I couldn't have gone to Indiana this last trip, I will keep it in mind for the future. 4. Re: John Gamble / Robert John Gamble [1]
I am trying to help a Gamble descendant join our chapter of the DAR. She lacks documentation to connect the earlier generations of her family. Other members of the Gamble family have joined through this ancestor, but none through her direct line. Does anyone have access to the book "History of Henry County, Alabama"? It is given as a source for biographical information on the family, but I cannot locate a copy. I will be glad to pay for time & material for photocopies of the appropriate p;ages, and will

To all, My ancestors came from Northern Ireland (that's all I know regarding the "where") in 1851. They settled in Onondaga County, New York but went to farm in Webster County, Iowa in 1870. My ggrandfather was Andrew Gamble (b. 1806) and his wife was Sarah Gray. The children were John, Andrew, Richard, William, Margaret, Mary, Thomas, and Sarah. Does anyone have information on this line of Gambles??? Sue Gamble Crawford in Michigan

Hi, This is not my Gamble line but try going to www.familysearch.org. This is the Latter Day Saints website. Click on all resources and enter Robert Gamble. US for country and Indiana for state. I think there is something there you could use. Hi Larry, Hi cousin. Where are your people out of? My line is out of Carroll Co, IL, in Lanark and Mt Carroll. John "Johnny" and Mary (Reid) Gamble migrated by river from Knox Co, OH to some little settlement in Jefferson Co, MO in 1825. This is St Louis today. Johnny returned to Knox Co never to be heard from. He left behind his wife and at least 5 sons. 3 of the 5 caught "Gold Fever" and went to CA, never to be heard from again. 11. Robert Gamble in Indiana? [1]
Hi, I am new to the list and need help. I am trying to find my husband's g-g-grandfather, Robert Gamble. His name was found on his son, James Edward Gamble's death certificate. James was born April 10, 1863 in Frankfort, Clinton Co., IN and died April 25, 1936 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. His mother's name was Elizabeth. I have tried unsuccessfully to find any census record and/or info about this family being in Clinton County. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Helen
12. Re: John Gamble / Robert John Gamble [1]
Sorry, can't help you. Our Gamble line comes from Londonderry and settled in the Staunton, Virginia area around 1750. Off to Tennessee around 1810, then up to Indiana around 1830. Some of these Gamble's around Staunton did fight in the Revolutionary war (Captain Robert Gamble). Do a search on the internet for the Annals of Virginia and select his name. Some of the family did work their way south toward Florida. Good hunting! Larry Gamble ----- Original Message ----- From: "Virginia Beck"
13. Long lost relatives [1]
Dear Michele and Gambles, Thank you, thank you, thank you for answering my humble attempts to piece together my Gamble history. You have filled in the gaps before Johnny and Mary and All-we are forever grateful. Where is that first gen burried, NJ or PA? Can you scan that photo of headstones and send? Maybe find the name of the ship they came over on? Anything definite for documentation would be wonderful. I will gladly share what I have. I am at 5328 Windermere Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32211

Hello Sharon and Larry; I believe we might be in the same Gamble family, which settled in Cumberland Valley area of Pennsylvania before moving in various directions from there. We were also tied to the Pomeroy family which includes the Reids, Boyles, Morrisons and a lot more. Please give me a little more info. I have a mountain of info to share. John C. I know quite a bit about John Gamble who moved to Jefferson County, MO. He didn't disappear. He went back to visit his parents, John Gamble and Elizabeth Kennedy in Bradford County, PA. He got sick and died while he was there. I have a pic of his headstone. He immigrated to the US in 1801. He loved it here so in 1811 he went for his parents and siblings. They arrived in Amboy, NJ in April 1811. Everyone but his sister and her hubby came. They sent their oldest son. They came a little later.

Thanks for looking, but I believe it is a different Gamble family. He would have moved to Indiana with his brother John, but he would have been much older than 40 in the 70 or 80 census. I will continue to look. Thanks for the response, Larry. Another list member, who IS descended from Robert John, has a copy of the Henry County AL book, and has kindly offered to photocopy the pages for me. I am seldom disappointed when I ask for help from members of Rootsweb lists. Their gracious response and willingness to go to unexpected lengths to lend assistance is wonderful.. Hi Patrick and all, My line of Gamble's migrated to IA also. Here is my explanation I sent to Larry. We have a good chance of being cousins since siblings settled up and down the Mississippi R in IL and migrated. Let me know what you think about all this. Your Cousin? Michele, Do you know if one of the latter John Gamble's had a daughter Barbara Etta who married Blair Wallace? My GG grandfather is Blair Wallace (so my GG grandmother is Barbara). I have found a marriage license signed by John L. Gamble, granting his permission for Barbara to wed Blair. Barbara was born in Butler County, PA on the 14th of Feb. 1869 but I have not had any success in researching this line further. Thanks for anything you can tell me ahead of time. I've read several emails that include a son named William Gamble. He is my roadblock...and the only information I have is that he died in 1825, was married to Sarah Gillespie, then Mary Russell. He apparently had a son, James Pulaski Gamble, with first wife Sarah - although that's yet to be documented. If anyone has information about this particular William Gamble, please contact me at dgapr00@hotmail.com. Thank you so much! I have quite a bit of information about his descendants, with documentation, and w
