I want to apologise to the list for posting of the newspaper clippings. I
did not intentionally leave out the state. The state where Niagara County is
located is in New York. It just never occured to me to put the state in, as I
didn't know that a Niagara County exsisted any where else in the world. I
just assumed that everyone would know where Niagara was, Home of the most
magnificant water falls in the world.
So much for trying to share uncovered information!

Hello list,
A lot of recent postings have been giving only the county name where
the person lived. Many states have counties of the same name, and
GARDNERs live all over. It would be a great help if the name of the
state is included in the posting and not just the county name.
Thank you.

Hello all,
I'm new to the list, so here is my interest in the GARDNER name.
My 3g grandparents were James and Biddelia/Bridget GARDNER. She appears to have been born in Ireland ca 1802. He was born England but not Lancashire ca 1782.
Their issue:
Maryann ca 1821 Ireland
Rose 22 Jan 1822 Ireland
Ellen ca 1824 Possibly Sufolk
William ca 1826 England, not Lancashire
Elisabeth ca 1828 " "
Henry ca 1830 " "
Thomas ca 1831 "
William H Gardner was 2nd Lt in C Company of the 25th AL Infantry Regt
during the Civil War. Does anyone know if this is the same William H Gardner
that married Susannah or Susan Guthrie, daughter of Calvin Guthrie after the
war?
Thanks,
Mark Britton

You got the information from a book called "Records of Pickens County,
Alabama", Vol I by Mrs. C. P. McGuire, Jr. I descend from his son Henry
Kenard Gardner who married Frances Hodo. Thomas Gardner is the son of John
Thomas Gardner and Martha Waller. There were two sons named Thomas born to
this couple. Apparently the first Thomas died young so sometime later when
another son was born, he was named Thomas (which is the person currently
under discussion). John Thomas Gardner is the son of Jean Gardner

I found this in the Niagara County Historians office, and thought that I
would share. These clipping were compiled in booklet form and I copied all
the Gardner's that were listed. The booklet was called Middleport Herald,
which was a newspaper of the time. Middleport, is in the Town of Royalton,
however, it also covers news from the Towns of Hartland, Ridgeway, Shelby,
Medina, and surrounding areas that would have been of local interest at the
time.

Hello E. H. and list,
Several years ago I found the following article about a Thomas GARDNER
in a Pickens Co. Alabama history. (I was just beginning my research at
the time and photocopied the page, but forgot to note the booklet's
title.) I am wondering if this could be the same, or a relative of, the
Thomas GARDNER just mentioned in the message by E. Harn. Does anyone
have any more information on the family of the Thomas GARDNER below?

Concerning your Rubin Gardner of Tennessee, you might check the records of
Louisa Co. Va and Hanover Co. VA where there are several Rueben Gardners.
My 3rd ggrandfather Thomas Gardner had a son Rueben b. abt 1787. I know
nothing more about him. A number of Thomas Gardner's children moved to the
Edmonson and Warren Co. area of KY. Not far from Tenn. Good luck EH

Well...now I'm confused. Yesterday I wrote regarding Wm H Gardner...and his
possible affiliation with the 25th Al Inf. Today, I found out that there was
also a William Gardner (no middle initial listed) that served with the 1st
AL Cav (US) during the war. Based on today's info, it seems that the William
I am seeking may indeed be the 1st AL Cav veteran. According to other info I
have recently accumulated, my William was in service with his brother
John..and his future father-in-law, Calvin Guthrie. Th
