Dear Mr. Hoot, To answer your query: Dr. James Gardner, my g'g'grandfather, was born in Bozrah, CT, in 1788, the son of John and Phoebe (Lathrop) Gardner. Sometime around 1815 he migrated to the Sequatchie Valley of TN, settling in what's now Bledsoe Co. His long migration may have been in two stages, the first taking him from CT to the Wyoming Valley of PA, where several members of his extended family had settled back in the days when it was claimed by CT.
