Hello all,
Several months ago, I began a little project to try and identify the date of death and place of burial of as many of Co. G, 5th Ga Inf. as I could. I put a lot of work into it and have run out of leads. This file which contains my notes can be found on the Schley county page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaschley/g5thbur.htm
This roster contains men from many counties, but the original enlistees were from Schley, Marion, Sumter and Macon counties. I hope it will be helpful to some but I'm als

Is there someone who lives in Sumter Co willing to go out to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery and check something for me?
Jacob Perry is listed on the cemetery survey as

11 Aug 1835 - 10 Jan 1897
There is a descrepency with Jacob's birth year. It makes a tremendous difference. I need someone to look at the stone and check this date to see if the survey is in error.
Also, the survey is in alphabetical order and I can't tell who is buried next to whom. I would like to know what Perry'
I have recently completed this list of CSA veterans buried in Schley County. I had no idea there would be so many. Several members of the mailing lists contributed material, but I'm sure there are more buried in the county that are not on this list. If you know of any that I have overlooked or there are corrections/additions to this list, please send them to me.

Debbie Moore has completed a few more minutes of these meetings. There are lots of names here and also our first references to slaves being members of this church. Also, note the reference of one of the slaves "belonging to the estate of Tundee." Tondee is commonly pronouced as Tun-dee in Schley today. Anyone know who the deceased Tondee/Tundee is? Harris

I checked the 1840 Sumter County census index and couldn't find anyone with
the surname of Key or Jenks.
Does anyone know anything about L.B. Smith and Axsy Smith?

Here are more church minutes from Debbie Moore. I'm wondering if the L.B. Smith mentioned in #40 might have been L.B. Smith. This Lovett B. Smith, I believe might have been the same one who gave the city of Americus it's name. Harris

Amazingly enough, I am aware of two Lovett/Lovitt B. Smith's about this
time, both apparently living in the area of Sumter Co. that beacme Schley.
The one in these minutes, as the story goes had some involvement in the

Here are some more Ebenezer Church minutes from Debbie Moore. This bunch is particularly interesting. I wondering if the Bro. Joseph Battle that was excommunicated was related to the Rev. J.J. Battle who was the first pastor at Ebenezer. Also of interest was the excommunication of Bro. Jeff.
If you know any of these people, please tell the rest of us.
