I went back to the 1880 census and checked, there is NO WAY that Ezekial Adams could have been the father of Martha C.. He was only three when she was born. There is still hope.

Thanks for the reply but you shot down my thinking that I had located Martha and Martha C. Adams.
My Martha C. was the daughter of Jonathan Adams and of course Martha was the widow of Jonathan.. I wish that I could write a brief bio !!
Thanks again,
Robin

Don't give up too quickly. Essie Childs didn't give a source for the basis her remarks and she may not have had proof at that time. With new things coming out all the time, you may be in a better position to verify it.
So keep us posted!!

This is a grand opportunity to experience the 1812 era and find out more
about your ancestors who might have been in this section of GA at that

We're always trying to get more data on-line about this period so please
share whatever you might have. This would include Native American as well

Has anyone ever heard of a Salem Church in Taylor Co.? I have a mention of a Barfield being buried at Salem Church and the other information leads me to believe it might be in Taylor Co. Could it be a church that perhaps changed it's name? This person died in April 1900. Any help appreciated.

Carol C-H has just started a new mailing list specifically for our area of
Georgia.
Since so many families moved around within this general area, I think this
is a great idea for sharing information.
Pass this along to any surname groups that you are with, so they will also
know about this and be able to join in.
===============
Please join us on the new WC-GA e-mail list, if you are researching
ancestors who lived in west-central Georgia. You can sub either by
visiting http://www2.netdoor.com/~cc
Is there any information in They Tarried in Taylor about John Searcy and
Mary Camilly Layfield? According to our family information, they were
married there about 1860.
Thanks

If Robert Elbert Lee married her in 1891- He would have only been 17 years old-not too common for marriages back then.
If Robert E married her in 1891-he would have been 33.

Wesley Hill never had a son named Robert E. Hill. He did have a son named
Ralbert Arthur Hill who was born September 1, 1856. If you look at the
census data for Taylor and Schley counties for Wesley, it will bear this
out.
Viola Turner's obit states she married Robert E. Hill 52 years ago. The
obit was dated September 25, 1942. If you do the math, that takes you to
1891 when he was 17 and she was 16. That doesn't leave much room for
another marriage beforehand.
