No, Sharon, this was an Humphries Bible, not the Mosley Bible I have in my posession. Essie Childs got copies of the Humphries Bible from descendants of Martha Bartow (Bart) Humpphries. I have been unsuccessful in tracking the Bible this Bible. I do have copies of the family pages which were copine and given the Essie Childs. It was from that Bible that Essie got some of the information she listed in "They Tarried in Taylor" for the Humphries, Carter, and Newsom families.

I reviewed the pension app for John Forsythe Parker and his middle name was never spelled out, just the initial, F. was used. My mother, Virginia, remembers that his middle name was Forsythe but I don't have any actual document where his name is spelled out. I will keep an eye out for that. Annette K

I just had someone ask a question about White Water Creek....which of
course is one of the best known in Taylor County.
Not only were the Creeks important for early settlers for a water
source....but also for the industry of mills and the grinding of corn, etc.
Would anyone be able to help me with some "geography" of Taylor County. I
think it would interesting to point out these Creeks....as they were
certainly where folks first settled. (of course actual Taylor County is
much, much later 1852...but stil
I am so happy that the Taylor Tracer won First place in the genealogy newsletter
contest! John is my younger first cousin and I am extremely proud of him and all
the work that he and his wife Janice do for genealogy. The smart "genes" are really
showing up in him. Too bad I missed out.
Anyone that does not subscribe to the Taylor Tracer is certainly missing a wonderful
newsletter full of history and genealogy. He diligently spends hours going through
microfilm to find data that would interest the peo

Has anyone ordered the CD-rom version of They Tarried in Taylor County?
I understand it is available through the Central Georgia Genealogical
Society page. www.cggs.org
(sometimes I have trouble getting into their page, so hope you don't)
And I was just curious as to how you found it...
Essie's work is so wonderful. I have just about worn my copy out....but I
still prefer the "hard copy" to a CD-rom (or at least I think I do)
That's why I wanted to hear from other's experiences.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me where the microfilm for the Butler Herald is located
and how much of the paper has been microfilmed? I would also like to know
how long the Herald was in publication.
I'm interested in looking for obituaries that haven't been in the Taylor
Tracer yet and do not appear in the Butler Herald Books.
Thanks for your assistance,
Carla

Often times you can get Inter Library Loans on

It has been some time since I have posted my Boyd/Wadworths ancestors. I
should say my wife's ancestors. I am at a brick wall. So far I only know that
EVA PEARL BOYD was my wife's grandmother. She indicated on her Social
Security application that she was born in Taylor County in 1897. According to
the application her mother was NETTIE WADSWORTH and her father was JOSEPH
BOYD. EVA had two brothers, JOHN AND BURL. EVA was living in DADEVILLE,

I am still searching for information regarding the John Young Coulter family
and beyond in Taylor County. Any information will be appreciated.
This is a summary of all I know about Taylor County publications....and I
believe that the Washington Memorial Library in Macon would also have these
microfilm. Earlier that 1875 (which is the beginning of the published
books)....I don't think exist.
After 1910 (when the last book covers) there would be papers and maybe
someone locally can tell us exactly how far the microfilming has
occurred....and the most recent date of microfilm that the Butler Library
has. Has anything since 1962 been microfilmed?
