Since my initial post, it now appears that Romulus Dixon was actually the son of Harriet Dixon, and not Sampson Dixon & Savil Stokes.
Per the 1850 census, Harriet Dixon heads her household, & is mother of Romulus, Martin & Roannah Josephine. In 1850, 1860 & 1870, she is listed as residing beside

Thank you for posting the obituary. I had spent time this afternoon checking
the Macon Telegraph for the obituary, with little luck.
Diane Thompson Dixon
You're welcome, Diane.
Mom & my aunts had wanted to do the funeral Sunday morning early, but it was
Homecoming, and the funeral home either couldn't or wouldn't schedule one on
Sunday....
From what Grover & those said, the weather was pretty nasty Sunday anyway.
I would've liked to have gone to Homecoming.

The Georgia Archives has started putting Confederate Pension Records online.
"These records are from Record Group 058-01-001, Confederate Pensions
and Records, Pension Office, Pension Applications. In addition to the
main portion, this series includes Supplements 1 and 2. Because
Supplement 2 has never been microfilmed, the supplements are being
scanned first. We will then go back and scan the main portion of the
series. Please watch for additions to this collection"
