2. Re: need death record interpretation assistance [1]
I thank you all for responding. The translation from German to English was not the problem. The part that eluded me was the "comparenten" reference. I had not seen its meaning before in the legal sense it is used in these records. That is very helpful to now know she was remarried after her first husband died. It appears Michael Lohmar's (the neighbor) signature is written within the final declaration at the end of the page, but there is no apparent mark made by Tillman Lutz (the husband).

The "Pennsylvania Dutch" were not "Dutch." They were not Germans who came through Holland. They were Germans who emigrated directly from southwest Germany generally in the 1700s. They settled in eastern Pennsylvania. For a good explanation,

Theresa, 1880 first census year to ask for the birthplace of the parents. I checked ancestry.com's indexed Moritzes for Ohio in 1850 and found no family with a son William about 7 years of age. Maybe they were no longer in Ohio. Maybe they were but are not on this index. The Wuerttemberg Emigration Index volumes are online at ancestry.com but don't list any Moritz. These are extraction of records on film a the Family History Library, and are not complete indexes of all emigration applications. Moreov

Just my 2c: "Sturger" sounds similar to Stuttgart pronounced in the local dialect of Schwaben. This may be misleading, though. Bvchingen, in the Palatinate (Pfalz), Bavaria, west of Landau, local courts at Edenkoben, 4 km from Knvringen/Essingen; population in 1910 was 715. Had an evangelical parish. First thank you for the links and suggestions. I also need to update the information i sumbitted to the list. William Moritz b. in Ohio abt 1843. On the 1880 Census he is found in Adams County Illinois and it is there where it mentions the birth place of his parents as them both being from Wurtemburg. I am sorry if this caused any confusion. I have not at this time been able to locate him on prior census to see if it also lists parents birth as Wurtemburg, so this could be an error made by the census t
