The Papke and Walschlager names are familiar names in Wisconsin. Most of these Germans came from Pommern. Why not start out by going to the Pommern home site on the internet. Maybe someone can help me find out more about my family. My mother has told me all she knows, which isn't very much. My father died in 1991 and I was not very close to him and he wasn't in his right mind. My father's name was Albert Hoffmann and he married my mother Betty Lou Brown in 1961 (I think). Hello, I am looking for any links to the Cischke Family, I have three known brothers, August, Herman, and Gustav, two sisters, Bertha and Wilhelmina. I've been using the white pages http://www.etv.de to search for surnames in Germany. The returned addresses all list what appears to be a 'zip' or area code preceding the town/city name. Is this in fact a 'zip' code? If so, does anyone have a map that shows the general assignment of codes to regions throughout Germany? Thanks.

Mike: The address is Naczelna Dyrekja Archiwow Panstwowych ul. Dluga 6, skrytka pocztowa Nr. 1005 00-950 Warszawa, Poland (there are accent marks over the o in Archiwow and the n in Panstwowych).
