My mother was born in Ovada, but grew up in Genova. Her original last
name is Sasso; thus, half of me is Sasso. Are there any other Sasso's

I have two old turn of the century postcards left by my great grandmother
which at first glance appear to be blank. However, with a powerful
magnifying glass, I see a number of odd "scribbles" which makes me wonder
if this is all that's left of some handwriting. The postcards are from
Termini-Imerese, Sicily and may be from the Corso or the Russo families.
Does anyone know of using ultraviolet light or other techniques to restore
any handwriting that might have been there.
Thanks
Jim

Do the given names of Guarino and Gioacchino have English equivalents?
My husband's grandfather's given name was Guarino and he gave one of his
sons the name of Gioacchino. Guarino went by William and Gioacchino went
by Jacob. However, I thought the Italian equivalents of William and Jacob
were entirely different names.
Also, would someone help me figure out how to pronounce Gioacchino? I
believe this given name in our family came from the maiden name of the
paternal grandmother, who was Amelia DiGIO
