1. Re: Complete Peerage Addition: Parentage of Elizabeth Holand, wife of Sir Roger Fiennes [1]
Dear Newsgroup ~ Going through the helpful online A2A catalogue last night (http://www.a2a.org.uk/about/index.asp), I located an additional document relating to Elizabeth (Holand) Fiennes' father, the senior Sir John Holand (living 1406), and also one which pertains to her brother, the younger Sir John Holand (died 1447/51). Both items are taken from the papers of the Gell family of Hopton, which are housed at the Derbyshire Record Office. Elizabeth (Holand) Fiennes' father and brother are often confused

whatever Kelsey J. Williams has posted in response to my original post on this thread is unread by me because he invents non-existent sources to "prove" his point, and when caught in the act he excuses himself by saying it was a "joke". see: From Kelsey J. 3. Re: Royal Descent for John Howse [1]
Visitation records do not list both Howse and Hulse together. I do not know why the two names are used interchangeably, and I don't know if there is any contemporary record that would indicate that the names were synonymous. It might be worth noting, however, that the Oxford Dictionary of English Surnames (an otherwise thorough source) only lists the name Howse. Hulse is not listed at all. This is rather odd. In other lineages that I have thought of as being suspect (ie. Boone traced back to Bohun), the ety

5. Re: CP Addition: Richard Pole's 1st marriage to Alice Stradling [1]
Dear Tim ~ The Pole family records which I culled from the PROCAT catalog are drawn from a variety of different classes of records. As such, I think when you check the original records, you'll find that the surname is spelled Pole just as the modern catalog indicates. I might add that in addition to the records I reported for Geoffrey Pole and his son, Sir Richard Pole, I also found around 30 records involving Sir Richard Pole's three sons, Henry, K.B. [Lord Montagu], Geoffrey, Knt., and Cardinal Reginal

Can anyone identify the parents of Luise Freiin von Sierstorpff? She married Heinrich Auguste Graf von Itzenplitz (who was born on February 23, 1799 and died on February, 1883). I have seen references suggesting that she is a member of the Driburg branch.

Burns wrote a more recent study of Alda's origins in 1993 (for details see below). However, I am not certain this article provides addition details on Maria Ferrandis's parentage. The following is from the Arenos web page, which I mentioned in a post on Feb 23 2003. There are other Muslim lines to modern European nobles. The de Granada family descend from the last Kings of Granada, and have many descendants among the Lancastre and other Portugese noble families. In the 14th and 15th Centuries, the King
23. CP Addition: Cecily Beauchamp's 2nd Turberville marriage [1]
Dear Everyone ~ Complete Peerage 2 (1912): 48-50 (sub Beauchamp) includes an account of the baronial Beauchamp family of Hatch Beauchamp, Somerset. The senior male line of this family ended in 1361, on the death of John Beauchamp, 3rd Lord Beauchamp, at which point his lands were divided between his sister, Cecily, widow of Roger Seymour (then aged 40) and his nephew, John de Meriet (then aged 15). In note a on page 50, Complete Peerage states that "the bulk of the estates seems to have devolved on the 1
24. Re: descent of the BALTHAE DYNASTY of Spain [1]
Interesting line, more familiar territory for most I'm sure. Berig has an old traditional pedigree tracing him back to days long gone. The problem is going to be finding a way to connect the tail end of this genealogy to others. The Aupais identification doesn't seem to be popular, and some seem to love to tear away a connection between the later Spanish kings and the Visigoths. I am reminded of the chart pedigrees that used to be posted in the Family History Library in the 1940s showing various descents of European royalty from Adam, all, of course, legendary [to use a polite term], but as an adolescent I was at least initially impressed. Now, of course, most of us know better.
