1. Postulated Bulkeley Descent from Nicholas de Beke [1]
I just noticed that Douglas Richardson has posted that Rev. Peter Bulkeley and his sisters and niece are descended fron Sir Nicholas de Beke and his wife. I am surmising that he is using the supposed marriage of Randall Grosvenor to Margaret, the supposed dtr. of Randall Mainwaring of Caringham, which would have this descent through Margaret Savage. Jacobus' points out that the Margarets in this family either have spouses other than a Grosvenor or are not shown in Ormerod or other sources as existing

I would also refer the Gentle Reader to the 1990 or 1991 edition of Weis & Sheppard's Ancestral Roots, p. 111, Line 98A: "10A. Margaret Savage; m. (1) John Maxfield; m (2) Randle le Mainwaring, 3rd son of Randle of Over Peover, purch. Carincham, co., Chester, sett. 23 Hen IV; ob. 13 Edw. IV (1474). The (2) mar. lacks proof. *** Line breaks due to inadequate proof of parents of 10B. *** 10B. Randle Mainwaring of Carincham,..." So this line was in trouble,
5. Re: Sources, British Peerage [1]
The Complete Peerage is your best bet. Check Collins against CP. Other sources you should acquire are George Marshall, James Beach Whitmore, and Geoffrey Barrow. All titled eithe The Genealogist's Guide or Continuation to the Genealogist's Guide. These will help you find sources to search for the surnames which you are researching. You should be able to find these through the LDS Family History Center system. Kay Allen AG Jon Althouse wrote: > > I'm quite new to genealogy and completely new to medie
