The recently published family history "Mdmmdldn kyldn talot ja suvut" (Farms and families of Mdmmdld village) by Veli Hdkkinen and myself contains a land-holding history of Mdmmdld village of Sippola parish, Kymi county, Viipuri province, Finland, as well as genealogical information, organized in 400 family groups, of villagers who resided at one of the farms of the village, namely, Spdnndri, Tykkd, Tvkkdri (Tvkkeri), Juura, Inkeroinen (Ingerois), Sippu, Tvttv, Toikka, Aho, or Hohti, between 1543 and 1900

After many frustrating years of trying to find my Grandmothers place of birth in Norway I found the magic website. Only one shred of evidence found in 1995 led me to the vicinity and that was "Posgrunn". I read many microfilms from the area around Porsgrund to no avail. My greatgrandmother, Karen Anderson, b. 1852 Kristiana, Norway. Haven't been able to find birth record or her parents. She married Henry Gustavison in Norway. Henry came first to WI>MI. Dave, Thanks for the response. I have posted a few short pleas for translations on this board with very good results from the good folks out there. I don't want to impose by asking for longer translations. Using Arthur Treschlers free service a number of years ago produced good results and some recent translations from this service shows that the service is alive and well. Their names were Serianne, Ingeborg and Marie Ottersen Holtet, and they were from Bardu (Salangsdalen) in Northern Norway.
