I've just put my lamb in the oven...you should smell the garlic in a few minutes. Dave's station has come and gone during the day (or at least my connection). Just got it back...Loch Lomond is now playing. This has been the strangest day here in Anchorage...started out just beautiful. About 2 hours ago, it started thundering...yup, you heard me correctly. The dog hasn't left my side since....thunder is very uusual in Anchorage. He probably has no idea what it is, and whether he should protect me, or I sh

5. [Scot] Party time! [1]
Seeing as I keep losing my connection, I'd better be quick. OK, I've done the fling, I assume that Muff has sung for us, and that Dave is providing ongoing music. So ...who's next on the entertainment list? Surely someone has a darn good yarn for us? After all the good food and fervent activity, it is well past time for us to take a bit of a break while we listen to a story! :o) Lyndall

7. [Scot] Catching up [1]
Hello all, Having returned from our trip to Calgary and waded through the 656 e-mails in the inbox ( Phew) , I'm pleased to report that we have a new granddaughter named Jessica, born 5th June, weighing 8lbs 12 ozs. On the return journey we were able to stop in for a visit with Jessie and Malcolm, and spent a very enjoyable evening with them. I know Jessie has already posted about us being " almost related ", so I won't go into that again ! While scrolling through the messages that had accumulated, I noti

10. Re: [Scot] I name this child [1]
Think I've got you beat Joyce - I have 2nd cousins named Daigen and Kaylon (both male) and the #1 best choice - a great nephew named Camper - because that is where he was conceived. 12. Re: [Scot] Re: GEN-TRIVIA-SCOTLAND-D Digest V03 #154 [1]
Thanks Elizabeth & Jim - LOL re the point about why the Scots make whiskey so well! If I have it right, the southwest portion of Scotland has a more moderate climate than the north and northeast. Any grapes there? How about the lowlands or borderlands? I've noticed a tendency to equate Scotland with only the Highlands - and that would be like equating the state of Missouri with the Ozark Mountains - there's a variety in both places. Sue Missouri - from mountains to rolling grasslands (and croplands) to fo
13. [Scot] Re: Tartans was- The cyber party's on!! [1]
Hi Lyndall Mistaken identity re. 'my Jack' and the "feathers" problem, I'm afraid , Jack has a computer phobia...he is of the opinion that one has to be able to type to play arround with these things.... :-)) I was very interested to read about your theories on tartans. I always had a liking for tartans even before marrying into a Scottish family. I grew up with a British Army Bandmaster for a father and in that context I was exposed to many of the different tartans in military parades, tattoos etc. I
14. [Scot] A plea [1]
Please ...I really would love to read a good story! Not only do I need some relief from all the dancing and gorging on wonderful food, but I'm being driven nuts be my connection continuously dropping out - so some light relief would be greatly appreciated. Where's Marg, and her wonderful stories about her mother/grandmother from South America? And Amber, and her delightful tales about constantly moving house? Or somebody? Please, pretty please, with bells on! Lyndall (who loathes the limitations

20. Re: [Scot] Cyber Party Aftermath [1]
Joyce, Jim still has his eyebrows (I have seen him with them singed off, and only melted balls of hair for eyelashes - after a propane gas explosion with him trapped inside our truck camper - checking gas lines to the furnace for a leak ... with a match ... he found it :). But somehow he ended up with all the lovely curls shaved off his head (people are always asking him if he gets it permed -- unfortunately none of our kids inherited his curly hair). Now he is almost a skinhead - did you and Muff and Liz h
