Hi Listers My great uncle died in WWI on 26 August 1918. He is buried in France in the cemetery at Bapaume. According to his war record he was 'killed in action in France" he was fighting with the 2nd Battalion 3rd NZ Rifle Brigade. Does anyone know where I can find out what battle he was fighting at the time? Since the NZ contribution to this group seems to be growing I thought I'd try again for my missing relatives. George Lemmon was born in South Shields, Durham c. 1905 and arrived in NZ c. 1920-1930. He married a Marjory ???? and had (at least) two boys Antony and Dennis in period 1930-1935. In 1972 he was living in NZ and reputedly had 6 grandchildren. Does anyone have knowledge of the ship Hashemy. My g.g. grandfather George Kingdom was a probationary convict who arrived in Sydney on the Hashemy in 1849. How would I go about finding out where he served his initial part of his sentence in England. He was tried at Exeter in Devon in 1847. Does Exeter keep records such as this?
