Am searching my ggggg grandfather thought to be named John Bellamy and father of my gggg grandfather, Richard, who was born about 1755, served in the Revolutionary War, received land grants in Wilkes and Franklin Co., Ga., and died there about 1813 - 15. Any help will be appreciated.

I know that one of my relations emmigrated to Australia on 18/08/1884 along with two of his daughters. Unfortunately I do not know which daughters (or the name of the boat). Is it possible to find the names of boats and passenger lists (and hence tha names of the daughters) for departures to Australia, more specifically Adelaide,on that day? TIA Denis G.

Not quite that easy unfortunately: you need to know birth mother's name as well to get the certificate without going through the formal application/ counselling procedure. A friend tried this recently, phoning the relevant - and very helpful - local registrar, but by law, they can't release adoptee's original birth certificates unless the critical info is already known.
