5. Police Strike of 1918/19 [1]
Hey everyone - I'm currently writing a dissertation about the Police Strikes of 1918/19, which affected the Metropolitan Police. I was wondering if anyone's relatives were involved in some way, or they know of others who were involved, either as strikers or loyalists? If so, it would be great if you could get in touch with me at o.p.jones@btinternet.com. Any information would be extremely useful. Thanks for you time, and I look forward to hearing from you! warm regards - Owen
6. Searching for death record in Kent [1]
I'd appreciate some guidance with this problem. I would like to find the burial place of a lady who died either at the end of WW2 or shortly after it. She is not a relative but played a key role in my Parent's life. She was a widow and lived in a manor in a village outside Sandwhich in Kent. She possibly moved away at one point but probably returned to the area. She was in contact wth my parents in 1948 but later letters were returned. Where might she have been buried - assuming it was in the Sandwich area?

Peter, Many coroners records have been destroyed, or lost for that matter but some are still out there and if you're like me - leave no stone unturned. Generally, if one still exists you can try and track it down at the PRO or local record offices. Inquest verdicts are very often recorded in the local newspapers, as someone here has pointed out and I certainly would go there first. I say this because the reports are open to the public only after 75 years and you're right about there (1931) though some c

21. 3 Pieces of Evidence? [1]
G'day all, Having read the "Family Tree From 1010 to 2004 for Current US Resident (Fox/Vaux)" thread I was intrigued by the references to 3 pieces of evidence. As a novice to this sport I have tried on several occasions to get various people to give me an opinion on what constitutes "proof", mostly to no avail as the responses were along the lines of "Proof is in the eye of the beholder", also none of the books I've read had any clear pointers. I set myself a target of 3 pieces of evidence as i

Thought some might be interested in this. Last November I sent a wedding gift from USA West Coast to England, surface, cost $30. Six months later it returned with stickers all over it "reason for return, NONE".what I didn't realize was when you send surface that $30 is one way only and if it is returned to you they will charge you another $30. Fortunately, being the reason was NONE, the Post Office didn't charge me but I will not send surface again. christine Oregon USA
