2. Re: becoming a british subject [1]
While Barney Tyrwhitt-Drake is correct in saying that British naturalization records are in the P.R.O. at Kew, the indexes have been filmed and are available through the LDS. The Ottawa FHC is getting the films of the indexes from 1700 - 1924 (LDS films 824514 & 824515) on permanent loan. British overseas territories handled naturalization locally. The British films do, however, include some from the smaller colonies. The information is not online. -- Harry Dodsworth Ottawa Ontario Canada af877@f

Their Uncle Max (DIAMOND) & his wife Anne (from Essex) emigrated to the States c. early 20th century, & lived in Holyoke, Massachusetts, & New York City. Max & Anne's children were Milton, Fran, Kenny, & Isidore. I know only that these folks are my relatives, but don't know how, though probably in connection with the surnamed ORLIN. 18. Re: Victorian railway station under threat [1]
Hi Andrew, Obviously English heritage means nothing to you. Either that, or you are playing to the gallery at Sheringham station's expense. In either case, I find it quite depressing. I don't know whether the style of your reply is par for the course. The members of this newsgroup who have read your previous mails can only make that decision. How did you miss the first line of my previous posting when I apologised? Isn't that sufficient? Or is Sheringham station a stooge for your showing off to this newsgro

21. Re: Ex Brit Amnesiac needs help [1]
Did anybody do any research on the name 'Philip Staufen'? I heard on Radio4 this AM that he was assigned that name because somebody heard him mutter it while he was semi-conscious. If this is the case it may indicate some theological study. I don't believe this man is a 'Con Man' as has been suggested. He may be an arrogant 'S.O.B', but that may very well be a left-over from his 'lost' past. It is far too easy to write someone like this off as a con man or not worth our time or effort.
